When the 500X Digital Microscope first arrived, I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. It has three buttons, none of which are clearly marked, and the tiny instruction manual is, well, just that—tiny. The text looks to be in 3-point type, requiring a magnifying glass (though not at 500x magnification) to read.Once I figured out the instructions and got the device up and running, I inserted a (non-included) micro SD card, and I was actually very impressed with the images. I’ve uploaded several examples here, including the fabric of a pair of jeans, the weave of a placemat, table salt on a black background, and a magazine photo of a little girl’s eye.All the images were copied directly to the card, which is accessible via a USB-C connection and appears as a lettered drive in Windows. I didn’t bother to download the manufacturer-recommended software, as the drive letter method seemed like the easiest solution. I also wanted to avoid going back to that aforementioned tiny operating manual to figure out the software. The 500x magnification is quite powerful and significantly reduces the field of view. If you have eyesight issues and need assistance reading fine print, I recommend using a different magnifier with lower power, such as in the 3x to 5x range. However, this device is perfect for children (or adults) who want to explore nature or, in my case, for examining and identifying tiny electronic components.Take the time to learn the device's intricacies, and you will be rewarded with a handy tool for observing the tiny world around us.

I really like this little digital microscope. Provides a clear highly magnified image of tiny objects. Install a micro SD card to capture images and video. 4 magnification settings that were each a bit stronger than the last, but not by much. Dimmable LED bulbs provide sufficient lighting for a bright image. My only complaint was that there is no focus, and device pretty much has to be right on top of object to view a clear image. With all parameters correct, this magnifier works well. Images show tiny Chrysocolla crystal bits smaller than pin head, on a huge quartz and copper specimen. Took decent pics and video both.
