these are great thread repair coils for incidental parts, though something such as a starter I do not recommend them on. I had to fix a truck that the starter fell out driving down the highway and found similar coil type thread repairs used on the starter bolts, and these just aren’t that great for such a component, if you are trying to fix something that’s going to retain a shock force, vibration, or constant movement I would recommend a solid insert like a RockMount insert (what I personally use), as mentioned for incidental repairs I like these too. This kit comes with the more common thread pitches in standard and metric so someone like me that works on cars, trailers, semi trucks, and construction equipment this kit is fantastic, and highly recommended. Just remember your limits with these!

Hello. I have used this set several times. Use a thread chaser instead of a tap & die, in order to clean male and female treads for bolts and nuts. A tap & die can easily damage threads, if not used properly. Also a tap can damage coatings like hot dipped galvanized threads. This set is less expensive than a tap and die set. They are easy to use. Its nice to have both standard and metric together in one set. Nice case. I wish the markings were easier to read, maybe using contrasting paint colors to fill the stamped letters. This would be a big help for me. Regards, Keith.

This is a life saver. Once you learn how to use the thread file you can get yourself out of nasty messes. I mess up a one of a kind bolt. I ran the die oner it then finished the job with the file. Saved time looking for a replacement and money. Practice before you need it

These sets are never the quality you think they should be. I had a snap on set identical to this that was stolen and this seems just as good.

Seems to be overhardened so that they are brittle. First time using them to fix a damaged nut and 2 threads on the 7/16-20 chaser chipped off. I suppose they got the job done, but I consider these only useful on one-time use difficult to replace threads. Otherwise spend the money on spare hardware sets
