When you're searching for a ball head to sit on top of a 5/8" thread, that's what you search for: 5/8" ball head.The title including 5/8" is very misleading and leads one to believe this sits on top of 5/8" thread.The build quality is very nice/etc, but its misleading. The title should be updated.

This is solid metal ball head. It locks down easily and securely. It is a smaller size for lightweight equipment: 1 inch diameter at the base, about 2 inches tall. I wouldn't try mounting a heavy camera at an odd angle with this ball head, but it is fine for lighter weight equipment. The ball head can only mount to a 1/4" camera tripod. They include a 5/8" adapter so you can mount a standard microphone to the ball head. The adapter does not work mount the ball head to a 5/8" microphone stand. I like that the ball head has built in rubber grommets at the top and bottom to improve grip.

A ball joint for more Precision of mounting of mic/camera/screen. This was extremely useful. Beautiful Constructed product.Five stars For the construction of it.Four stars overall, due to lack of adaptor had to buy Another set of nuts and both for conversions to make it fit the application of it. Where in the bottom there is like a red line to it which, if they had just put a bigger connection and give us the bolt/screw for it would've made it easier. So -1 star for room to improve. However, the price is very fair, quality and construction is very good. Also, has Standard camera boot for flash or Mic Envelope which again 5star Approach. Beautifully done.
