Hey, there is no doubt about it, these chalk stick holders are not the most stylish or eye catching, but they definitely do the job. If you want a chalk stick holder that won't let the chalk slip back into the holder when you write with it and if you want a holder that won't let the chalk get stuck inside of it if you drop it and a piece breaks off inside, then these are the holders you want to buy. When you open the container and see them you might think they are just cheap pieces of plastic that will fall apart before too long, but as a high school teacher, I use mine EVERY DAY, and they have held up perfectly. I recommend then to all my fellow teachers. Great product!

Perfect! Nice quality for good price. I was looking for a way to keep chalk handy for a small chalk board on my fridge door. This set allows me to keep chalk dust off my hands and off the floor too! Using a couple small strips of magnetic tape applied to back, I 'hung' the container on my fridge door, so the lid opens out and down (like a tv tray on back of airline seat). I leave chalk 'extended' out of the holders enough to 'wedge' them into the case, then when I need to use one, I can just open & pull out one without worrying about dropping it, and write my family reminder notes! Convenient and tidy!Note: chalk, though pictured, is NOT included, which I realized from the a 'chalk dust' comment about item quality control testing, the sellerincluded in the item description.

It is clearly cheap plastic, but does work well for our two year old by preventing chalk from breaking and from her hands getting very filthy with chalk. I am not sure how long it will last, but so far so good!

Got these as an accessory to an easel gift for my 3.5 year old twin girls. These are AMAZING. I didn't even know I needed these until scrolling through amazon. SO happy I splurged and got them. The chalk is so thin, that it kids hands it breaks so very easily. These holders make it so that their hands don't get all full of chalk and that they can grip it tightly even and the chalk won't break as I only expose about 1/3 of an inch of the chalk at a time. Great buy.

Update: After using these for a while, I am changing my rating to 5 stars. These are actually chalk HOLDERS. They aren't however similar to mechanical pencils as in you can't push the top to make the chalk move down like mechanical pencils do. You have to break the chalk and push the chalk in. If a piece breaks and gets stuck in the holder you have to bend the plastic pieces back (that hold the chalk in place, insert a small object (I used a kebab stick) in the hole above, and the stuck piece of chalk will come right out. The holders fit standard sized chalk nice and snug. As long as you know you can't press the top to make the chalk move down then they are great for reducing chalk on hands.

I was disappointed to see that these did not contain chalk upon opening the box. I had to buy chalk separately, which was slightly annoying. My daughter has also been having difficulty using them but I have been trying to show her. Not my favorite product I have purchased recently but they are a good value for the money.
