Good sturdy handles, haven't broken one yet. Purchased to replace fiberglass handles that have been epoxied in.

Thanks to the detail provided, I was able to buy the EXACT hammer handle I needed the first time around without having to return it and to go through the whole trial and error deal. Also, the hammer handle is stellar quality - can't go wrong with hickory! Great description, great product, great price.

Nice stout handle. I had to work on it quite a bit to fit it on my 5lb maul head but I expect that may be the case for most. We'll see how it holds up.

Replacement for very old split handle. Old "miners rock hammer" about 50-75 years old found buried in the pasture about 20 years ago. Cleaned up and used it well but old handle finally slit down the center. This new American Made handle fits almost perfectly, needed a little shaving but provided wedges took care of getting it tight.

Other than having to do some rasping and sanding work to fit the handle to my 3 lb. hammer head, the handle will meet all my needs. It's actually a little longer than the original handle and will work great for my needs.

The eye size was indeed oval 1 inch x 1.25 inch, and a depth of 2.25 inch. I wasn't sure what the depth would be from the picture, but that worked exactly right for my short-handled sledghammer/engineer's hammer. Your situation may vary, but the handle seated at a depth of 2.25 inches. It included both the neccesary wooden and metal wedges. (Find some instructional videos if you have never done a handle replacement before.)

I have a 60 yr old 3lbs sledge and this fit the oval opening very well. Had to use a medium rasp to get the top of the handle shaped to allow it to be bumped thru the head and wedged in place (thank you for including a new wedge BTW).

Below average craftmanship. Handle splintered first day. No end taper on the handle.
