What can I say, it's a wooden stick. What makes this one stand out is that it is ergonomicly well shaped, the muddling tip has slightly rounded / chamfered edge and is of reasonable cost. After use immediately rinse and dry by hand. It's wood so it will swell reducing its lifetime and encouraging bacterial growth to set in.

I'm using this for making sausage. I have been looking for a tool to crush garlic in a cup. This is sturdy enough and fits my hand well. Thanks for the quality item

Lots of choices out there to choose from. I did my research and decided to pick this one. It is very basic but that is exactly what you want. Its the perfect height for a normal cocktail glass. The only reason to get one that is longer is to use with a cocktail shaker but how often does anyone want to muddle directly in a shaker (and its still long enough for a shaker too just not as good as a longer one). Anyhow, I wanted one that was flat on the bottom and not with jagged teeth which I think muddles better and one that does not have a lot of potential of transferring varnish/finish into the drink. This one is well made with good sealant and zero cracks. Very happy. Do not buy something more expensive or elaborate. This is all you need and will make you look like a real bartender. Only giving 4 stars because people tend to not believe the 5 star reviews.

This is a very good tool for my old fashion cocktails. So far I only use it for that drink and it works perfectly!Thank you for a great product...

Even though the description said “unvarnishedâ€, mine clearly came covered with varnish or a sealer of some kind. I’d really rather not worry about pieces of the varnish coming off in food… But it works well, and I’ll probably just get done sandpaper to remove the varnish at some point…

Just the right size and shape for making old fashions. I have a larger one that I use for making mint juleps, but this would probably work well for that as well except for using as a mallet for crushing ice.
