Great little whistle. I learned on this before buying a Logan Ventura Brass whistle (10x the cost)performance is basically similar, the brass is better for sure and more durable but like if you need something that is going to absolutely get the job done then this is for sure your winner. You literally CAN NOT go wrong here. Also just know that learning to do this takes time, its not super easy to learn how to use. I spent many hours sounding like an idiot blowing into this thing until finally making a sound but can now whistle literally anything with it. Wish there were more resources on how to use these in general.

This is not as easy as it looks so as explained some reason might just sound like a broken TV or a shrill squeak and I can occasionally produce a shrill squeak but nothing that no dog will even lift its head for so it does have a steep learning curve but I'm hoping that once I get it this will produce some really cool whistling sounds that will get my dog to come bac like she does when I make the sounds with those little pump squeaker devices out of a toy which one do they work they don't have the reach that I need it or want to have it for in case she ever gets away further. Now excuse me I have a whistle I need to get practicing on

As whistles go, it's not the easiest to master or necessarily the loudest, but for the price, it does the trick. Practice makes perfect so expect to take it with you as you travel (provided you are the only person) in the car. You should manage at least 2 octaves and perhaps slightly more. Before you start using it, let it warm up in your mouth as the cold plastic needs to be warm to work well. If you've had experience with a shepherd's mouth whistle, it's the same.I've made a lanyard for it so I can let it hang around my neck when not in use.Overall, I am pleased with it. The price was good and so far, it's robust enough for what I need it for.

There's a bit of a trick to using this whistle, but even after you figure it out you have to mess with it each time you use it. I have one of these from decades ago that's made of heavier plastic and it works great every time and without a struggle. For what it probably costs them to produce this little piece of plastic, it would only be worth the price if it worked easily and consistently.

As a 8 yr. old kid we made these with old can lids, a nail and hammer - tetanus be damned! I love it, never could whistle loud. This one measures 90db.

Was skeptical at first of how such a small, light plastic object could actually work. It took a bit of time to learn to use it, but with a little diligence and correct placement against your tongue, this whistle works well and packs a punch when you get the knack of it. It’s very fun and well worth the price. Watch some YouTube sheepherding whistle videos on how to use them and then keep trying till you get it. It doesn’t take very long but you do have to work a bit with it! If you’ve ever played a Flute or a Recorder the process is similar!

This type of whistle requires you hold it ‘just so’ in your mouth. If you have trouble getting sound, relax, pull your tounge back, just a bit in your mouth, keep a steady hold with your mouth, not a death grip. Blow moderately, not extremely. It just takes some patience. When you get a sound, pay close attention to what you did! More air and a slight flickering of your tounge will produce differant sounds, a twittering whistle etc. it’s not easy, but is fun. Practice will make it second nature. If an old lady can do it…. You can too!
