About this item

  • Vacuum formed ABS cover
  • Dual inches kidney inches auxiliary air inlet ducts
  • Fully sealed design
  • Fits both active and non active steering
  • Made and assembled in the USA

This Stage 2 Sealed Intake produces 12hp and 15lbs. x ft. torque and outflows the factory intake by 56%. Fully enclosed in a heat-shielding molded plastic housing; this air intake system features a washable/reusable conical air filter that improves airflow for increased horsepower and torque. The housing features auxiliary inlet duct for better airflow as well as an attractive black vacuum formed plastic cover that provides ready access to the filter for servicing. This intake system also features a heat-insulating molded plastic tube that replaces the stock intake tract and directs increased air flow with improved volumetric efficiency for maximum performance. The filter is constructed with 100% polyurethane for long life and multiple cleaning cycles. Vacuum Formed ABS Cover - This intake is topped with a vacuum formed ABS black cover that seals out hot intake air and provides an aggressive yet elegant look to your 3-series. Dual "Kidney" Auxiliary Air Inlet Ducts - aFe engineers have added two auxiliary air inlets to provide additional air volume. These two ducts are styled in the "Kidney Bean" Style that have made BMW famous. 6" Conical Air Filter with Inverted Top - This intake utilizes a huge, 6" conical Pro Dry S performance air filter with inverted top for increased flow and maximum convenience. This 3-layer progressive, synthetic media air provides increased flow and requires no oils for maximum convenience. Fully Sealed Design - aFe engineers have designed a very sophisticated 2-piece sealed intake that keeps out warm underhood air and brings in cooler, outside air for a denser air intake charge. Mounts In Factory Location - aFe has developed this intake to provide a hassle-free installation that utilizes all factory mounting locations. This System Fits: BMW 128i (E82/88) 08-13 L6-3.0L, BMW 325i/xi (E90/91) 2006 L6-3.0L, BMW 328i/xi (E90/91/92/93) 07-11 L6-3.0L, BMW 128i (E82/88) 08-13 L6-3.0L Non Turbo. Fits both active and non-active steering.

If air flow sensor does not unplug you will have to alter the steps by unscrewing and screwing the sensor on new tube in the engine compartment when ready. Be aware when loosening power steering reservoir bottle that there is another piece of hardware underneath the nut, an aluminum sleeve. It can fall into the engine compartment and lost, it’s important to protect rubber on power steering reservoir. The two obstacles I dealt with even after spraying electrical connection lube on airflow plug . Took me extra time, but worth it, sounds great!

Awesome product! I will say over all you will see a slight increase in power/performance and it produces an amazing sound, straight foward install and no error codes! Thanks

First, contrary to advertised here on Amazon, this unit does install on a 2013 BMW 128 (E82). It also takes a couple of weeks to ship.It took all of three minutes to remove the factory unit and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.. It then took another 40 minutes to install the new unit. This was due to a few issues. Some of the design engineering is a little questionable as far as installation.1. The MAF gasket is too thick for the included fasteners and needed to be cut down slightly to install correctly with the supplied fasteners.2. One of the mounting fasteners to the frame is next to impossible to install and requires you loosen everything back up and "fish" for invisible bolt holes. This is something that could have easily been designed a bit better.3. The included fasteners are a bit short. I used the stock mounting fasteners with the new unit. The mounting grommets are also too soft and allow the unit to move slightly over time. This would have been great with a hard plastic / rubber combination grommet4. The filter media will definitely increase supplied intake air, but like typical K&N systems, they allow a lot more debris through. While I live in a area with relatively clean air, a free flowing secondary filter media would be a good option. I opted for the "Dry" filter media because I have had problems with K&N type "oiled" filters fouling MAF sensors over time.Installation observations:1. The supplied silicone gasket to the intake manifold is "keyed" and has to go on in a certain position to allow it to seal properly. This is not mentioned in the installation instructions. If you look inside the gasket on the engine side, you will see a notch that will correspond to the "bump" that is on the intake pipe. This is easy to overlook but a potential serious problem if not installed correctly and could lead to dirty air being pulled in as well as MAF sensor issues with incorrect air flow readings.2. Leave all fasteners loose until all bolts are correctly threaded and all components are correctly in place. The unit has to be manipulated quite a bit to accomplish this and that cannot be done easily with any fasteners tightened down.3. I installed a small circle of thin adhesive foam tape around the intake tube to where it meets the inside of the box before fastening to keep engine area debris out.4. Be very careful when transferring the mass air flow sensor. This is a very delicate sensor and can be easily damaged by ambient dirt or shock.. Do not touch the exposed sensor wires or use any cleaning products on these.. A replacement will be a couple hundred $ at the very least.5. I used two small circles of 3M VHB adhesive tape and some thin filter media on the inside of the box to cover the two side open ports to limit debris from entering the filter box from the front of the vehicle. For the money, it's a good intake box for the E82 series. As a product engineer, I'm probably a little anal-retentive but there are some, "common sense" things about this design that had me laughing. Overall, this combined with an Active Autowerke re-map and a few other things, it's definitely breathing better and is a noticeable difference throughout the useable RPM range and makes the car more fun to drive.

Easy install only took an hour or so. Great added sound and the feel is solid. Not sure about any power gains but overall I'm happy with the purchase.

Great intake. I installed this on my 2006 330i, e90 chassis, and it took only about 45 minutes to do...I even had it same day delivered. Funny how fast we can get stuff now. Anyway the change in the sounds at and above 3000rpm are a great improvement. I would even say the car is slightly more powerful however I have nothing to measure that with great buy, fair price.

An easy install on my 2006 325i definite power increase with a throaty growl around 3,000 RPM. I also noticed a gain of roughly 12 MPG.

I ordered this on a Friday, got it the next Monday, three days later. The car sounds amazing. You will feel that extra pull when you take off. When installing, don't assemble the unit then install it as a whole. Take it piece by piece. Install the Mass AirFlow sensor, put the intake tube into the housing. Put the semi assembled peices into the engine compartment. Connect the tube to the engine head. Affix the intake tube to the housing. Then all should fall into place. Not disappointed at all!

great sound, not too obnoxious, and adds a little pep. Don't expect huge performance gains though

Not a perfect fit and expect to run into a few problems. If your mechanically inclined you will be ok. For $650 CAD I would demanded a bit more from a big reputable company like afe. Some of the screws wont line up and I had to splice wires to get the air sensor cable to reach.
