It does everything it says it will! Has a nice little case with it. The spring popped out of the retracting part of the light sensor, but that’s not really a big deal. It’s easier to use this way anyway.

It seems to work with LED… I can’t verify it’s accuracy but I added room for error. Giving it +/- 200-400 lux approximation when setting the light. Just observe your plant and adjust light accordingly. If it likes it, then that’s the lux range.

I wanted to measure the output of a bunch of flashlights I’ve picked up over the years to determine how reliable the lumen/brightness claims actually are. While I don’t have a standard against which I can calibrate this instrument, I can use it for comparative measurements in a variety of environments and that is enough to suit my purposes. After some quick poking and testing I figured out how to operate this meter and I’m very pleased with it’s performance. Repeat measurements of the same light sources and comparative measurements between low light and bright lights are both yielding logical results, so I think I can safely say that the meter is operating in the expected manner. All in all, I’m very pleased with it (especially for the selling price) and I expect I’ll find other applications for it in the future.

I appreciate the design most for having enough buttons. Trying to control something like this with 2 buttons would be annoying, so I certainly appreciate having 10 of them.It uses AAA batteries, which is odd, because there's clearly enough room for 2x AA batteries, but they've added a plastic spacer to prevent it from working. There's no good reason for this, if there's room for larger batteries, then they should provide the connections for it.I don't have a way to check for accuracy, but it certainly responds to light and darkness the way I would expect, and has settings for more low-light sensitivity.

The ANNMETER AN-881D Digital Illuminance Meter is a very useful tool for insuring that all of your indoor plants are getting equal amounts of light. With so many grow lights on the market, this is also a great way to verify the claims being made by sellers. The display is easy to read even under bright daylight conditions and the measurements appear to be quite reliable.

I do all kinds of electronic topics on my YouTube channel and cover all kinds of gadgets. So I need to use different type of tools to diagnose a products potential, like decibels, air flow, thermals, and now with this handy gadget, Lux readings. Can't really speak of the accuracy as I need to put it through some more paces .vs other equipment, but the functions are pretty easy to figure out and set and I like that.

This is a fairly decent digital light meter that's reasonably accurate with good repeatability and it appears to be well built with plenty of features. It's easy to use as most others are and it uses 2x AA which is what I prefer as opposed to a single 9V battery.First thing first, this is NOT designed for photography and it's probably not what you'd want or need for photography since it doesn't have any of the common features such as f-number, shutter speed, scene luminance, or ISO speed etc. They can be calculated manually but it's nonsensical to have to perform those manually if it can be done via appropriate light meters specifically for photography.≡ Physical buildThe physical build quality is decent and it's on par and typical of most light meters found here. It's reasonably compact and sturdy as far as these light meters are concerned; however, it does have soft rubber buttons which are just DIFFICULT to press and that's a major letdown and disappointment for me personally. I prefer hard plastic buttons or anything that's EASY to press. I'd also prefer a removable detector in addition to being rotatable (180° to the left, 90° to the right).≡ FeaturesFeature-wise, it's got plenty and I'm not gonna going into detail for each as they are all pretty much standard and typical functions that you'd find from most others; however, I'll point out a few that might not be readily obvious for some. The range feature allows for manually selecting 5 predefined ranges along with a 6th (pic 15) which is auto-ranging (the default btw). A single press will cycle through all 5 ranges and press-and-hold to activate auto-ranging.The 'REL' allows you quickly identify the difference (i.e. relative value) between 2 sources. You'd first measure the first light source (as a baseline) and once you see the value display on the screen, press the REL button to start measuring (a new light source) and reporting the difference. You should of course see a difference of 0 (zero) until you start measuring the new light source. This is very convenient if you wanna quickly find the difference between two light sources without having to do subtract 'em etc.It also allows you to store historical data if needed; however, they are only stored on the meter and there is no way to get 'em unless you manually write 'em down so that's not exactly useful if you wanna plot a graph or anything similar against the recorded data. The MIN/MAX and Lux/Fc are self-explanatory and so is °C/°F and HOLD function.✔ I should mention that the LIGHT function which activates the backlight remains across on/off which means if you turn it on and turn off the meter, the backlight will be back on the next time you turn on the meter (which I very much prefer but perhaps that's not for everyone).≡ Accuracy/repeatabilityIn terms of accuracy, well, that's a bit tricky. Suffice to say (without going to boring technical details), it's fairly accurate for general consumer use. It also has good repeatability which is what's important given the circumstance. However, I'll briefly describe what the claimed accuracy is and how it should be interpreted which I hope would help you in the future. I'll use an example of 10,000 lux measured≡ ExampleThe accuracy for this particular light meter is described as;* ≤ 10,000 lx: ±4% rdg ±0.5%f.s* ≥ 10,000 lx: ±5% + 10 digitsIf a light source is measured having 10000 lx, then according to the above (use the 1st statement), it would be: 10000 x 0.04 + 0.005 x 10000 = 450. As such, a measurement of 10000 lux would have a range from 10000 - 450 to 10000 + 450 which is 9550 to 10450.%rdg and %f.s simply means % reading and %full scale (and F.S in this case should be 10,000).≡ ValueAll things considered, this is a fairly decent light meter that's reasonably accurate, easy to use, and comes with plenty of features. It's reasonably priced at $50 for what it provides and its overall build quality and feature-set.

This Lux meter is a nice not that difficult to use and would be welcoming to anyone who is interested in getting a better sense of lighting around their living quarters, but it lacks some of the professional apparatus to be used in environments where absolute accuracy is needed. The meter has good ranges with respect to its standard errors and would certainly be enough for a home user's case. The device comes with batteries needed to operate it, which is something I always enjoy. Being able to use a product purchased on Amazon straight out of the box without additional expenditures is always a good feeling. In addition to the batteries, the meter comes with a warranty card, user manual as well as nice carrying which has a pouch and a screwdriver to open the battery compartment. The Lux meter's sensor has the ability to twist 90 degrees in one direction and 180 degrees in the other. This gives you the ability to use the device and see the results at the same time unlike some other measuring instruments I have.Accuracy seems ok given the constraints of the device. For example it has no filters for backlighting and so on but that's ok, overall the accuracy is reasonable. In addition, to being fairly accurate and repeatable the meter also has a temperature sensor which I found to be the most accurate aspect of the Lux meter. The LCD screen has backlighting which is very well done, all else being equal, the LCD backlighting makes reading results from the meter very easy.Like many measurement instruments, this Lux meter has the ability to store readings, but extracting those values for analysis is something that is lacking. If you want to take readings beyond what the meter can hold, you better have a pen and paper! The protective cap on the sensor is also very useful and so too is the ability to mount this on a tripod if you wish. It does have threading for that purpose. In one of my pictures I have noted the measurement error ranges according to the seller however, I had slightly different results but my sample size was likely far fewer than anything that would be measured by a manufacturer. Still, I would offer up some caution if you are looking for a truly professional instrument. This is made for those that just want a general sense of results. Not a bad product but not the most premium either. Overall, I find it to offer good value for measurements at home and in the office. Four stars.Cheers,

The unit I received will only register a value of 0.1 to 0.4 no matter how much light I put in front of the sensor. My guess is that either the sensor is broken, or the sensor's connection to the logic board is broken.Because of this quality control issue, I'm giving this product a one star rating.
