These are my go to cutters when it comes to cutting pvc,cpvc & abs. I love using them when I'm doing finish work because it minimizes the mess! And you always have a straight cut which is perfect for when you're working with any pipe. Makes it easier to deburr & make solid connections. I love how easily can replace the blade if I need to!

I think the reason Amazon states this is a frequently returned item is because the description says it can open up to 3 inches. This is true IF you remove the black blade guide. See the pictures where I show the opening inches both with and without the blade guide. Just because the cutter can open up to 3" does not mean it is able to cut a 3" PVC pipe!PVC pipe dimensions are usually referring to the INSIDE of the pipe. A 2" PVC pipe is thicker than 2" if you measure from outside to outside. 3" pipe exterior dimensions are also greater than 3."It does a great job of cutting 2" PVC and smaller sizes. I do not know of any other PVC cutting tool made in this style that CAN cut a 3" PVC pipe. I use a saws-all with a fine tooth blade and then sand paper to brush off off the jagged loose PVC bits after making the cut -when cutting 3" or larger pipe.There may be better tools available to cut larger pipes like this, but I do not have enough need to to cut those larger pipes to invest in other tools.This one is great for 2" and smaller, comes with a spare blade and the blade can be swapped out with ease so I am happy with the product.

At maximum this will cut a 2" PVC pipe. I did not try, because I bought it for a 3" PVC pipe, and I can 100% guarantee that it cannot even begin to engage with a 3" pipe, let alone cut through. The tool itself seems to be of decent quality, and the extra blade would be a nice thing to have, but unless you are cutting two inches or less, this is not the tool for you.

I've been using this product extensively as I build my Saltwater Aquarium Muti-tank system that I'm plumbing to a central filtration unit & it does a fantastic job ! VERY reliable & durable! I wish I'd have bought THIS one the 1st time ! The 1st cutter I bought is JUNK !

Holding up much better than big box store brands...very sharp, don't break the 2" pvc, and stay locked to put away.Why the point subtraction... need a holder or bag for the second cutter or it will get lost.

This item does NOT cut 3†pvc. Also found it difficult to change blades.
