Using our Round Soapstone Holder prevents soapstone breakage and ensures accurate marks. The threaded tightening collar allows for full use of each soapstone refill and securely locks soapstone in place. Soapstone slides easily on the holder for retracting and extending the soapstone to desire length.

Amazing, I'm a Machinist for a structural steel supplier and this has gotten plenty of hard use. I love the feel and design of the product and how secure it holds the stone. I've had other holders that the stone will punch back into the holder as you try and make your markings. And deffinetly beats not using a holder and having broken stones everytime they're bumped or dropped. It also arrived with plenty of refills. Also found it amazing that they emailed me a guide with FAQ, might be handy to someone new to these. Overall I'm impressed and will be sure to browse their catalog of products for any of my future needs!

I love this marker. It doesn't break, sharpens beautifully with a construction grade hand held pencil sharpener (like the one you can use for square carpenter pencils). Draws a beautiful clear line that removes from Sunbrella easily with Tuff Stuff.The only thing this marker will not do so far is mark on PVC coated reinforcement material. So I have to use the old white pencil for that which is fine. Also I found that the small amount of dust on the lines takes a little of the stickiness off the basting (doublesided) tape. Still I save so much time not having to resharpen broken pencil tips all the time and the line is so crisp and clean it is really a great asset!!

The product would have been great and received five stars but only one of the pins work All the set stones were in perfect condition but one of the pins was unusable it was crossthreaded together therefore unusable

The soap stone slips with the slightest pressure, basically unusable1. I presumed it is because the sharp thread stopping the twist cap to tighten.... wrong that did not work after I smoothed out the sharp thread edge at a 30 degree angle with a sander.2. I presumed the 4 slots between the 4 clamping fingers did not have enough gap for it to completely clamp, I used a bend saw cut between the locking fingers to widened the gap, wrong again, continue to slip.3. I removed the twist locking cap and tried clamping the soap stone with my fingers and it stopped slipping but as soon as I only apply pressure at the tip of the thread, it started slipping. The solution to the problem is to use a needle nose plier and bend each of the 4 threading clamping finger slightly outward so that there is longer contact surface between the 4 locking fingers and the soap stone (not just friction at the tip). Now the pen is working like a champ, no more slipping even with fairly heavy pressure.I am gifted on mechanical design and had designed/invented all sorts of devices. Hopefully I can pass down my gift and help those in need. Giving back, as I have always been teaching my kids, Good luck.

Using this soapstone pen has become second nature. The clasp is metal so it nicely attaches to a strong magnet I keep by my sewing machines. Soapstones are durable so I am not constantly adjusting to extend its length. Holds a nice point.The soapstone fit in the holder is a tiny bit loose, so the holder must be secured tightly so pressure can be applied during fabric marking.The soapstone doubles as a lubricant. I used it to scrape the threads of the older to ease the threading without using oils which might then get to my fabrics.The holder is solid. Threads could be better milled and the tightness adjustment improved to better grip the soapstone.All and all, great value for my money. I'd buy it again.

I had to send the first product I received back to Amazon since it was shipped with rectangular refills which don't fit a round holder. However, the replacement product was correct and the pen works great for marking metal before welding.
