Not perfect but really great for practicing some things without your family or neighbors hating you. Cuts the sound by about 50%. Your hands will get very hot. The pressure inside the container will increase as you blow, and it affects the instrument in strange ways. The product is well made and the optional microphone inside works well.

I’ve been using this Alto Saxophone Mute/Silencer for a while now, and overall, it's a great tool for quiet practice. It reduces the sound by about 50%, which makes it possible to practice without disturbing family or neighbors—definitely a win! It’s well-made, and while it does add some extra weight to the instrument, the strap distributes it well, so it’s not too noticeable during longer sessions. However, it’s not without a few quirks. The pressure inside the mute builds up as you play, which can affect how the instrument responds in unexpected ways. The mute also makes it a bit tricky to access the higher notes like E and F due to the foam placement, but for most practice routines, it's manageable. For those who want to use it for sound isolation in a recording setup, the built-in microphone works well, delivering a clean sound. Still, at over $350, the price is quite steep, especially for non-professionals. It would have been great to see some additional features like Bluetooth connectivity at that price point.Despite the cost, it’s been a valuable tool for extending my practice time, and I feel my embouchure and fingering technique improving. If quiet practice is important to you, this mute could be worth the investment.

This Sax Mute/Silencer has a couple of unique features/purposes. It’s nice for those who want or need to practice quietly, but traditionally cannot. It dampens the sound tremendously for that. The other purpose is capturing a more rich and pure sound for a sound system. It’s able to isolate the sax sound well because of the foam insulation and pump it electronically into your sound system. The current price of over $350 makes it a tough sell to those who do not play professionally. I also feel that for that price there could be some upgrades to the sound components. For example, Bluetooth would be a nice touch to connect to Bluetooth sound systems. It also does add a decent amount of extra weight; however the strap does a nice job distributing the weight, so it’s not as noticeable as it would be otherwise. It is well made, and it works great, and such a great concept that I hope they continue to build on and offer for multiple instruments.

I have this Alto Saxophone mute for exact one month. I practice everyday and the average usage of this mute is about 1.5 hours per day.The pro:1. Reduce the sound level from 100db to ~80db. I did the test by playing the same series of notes from Kenny G’s Moment where the notes from High D to G.2. Certainly more reduction is welcome but with given available products, with this mute I can almost fully (the con below) apply fingerings and keep my embouchure as normal. The con:1. The price. This mute cost almost the same as my cheap saxophone!2. Fingering of accessing the high E/F notes (right hand side) is not as easy as normal playing due to the nearby foam.I only use it as sound mute and did not use the electronic sound pickup and related features and I only use it when my wife at home.Overall, I like this product since it extends my practice time very much longer. If you can practice everyday with your fingerings andembouchure, you can fell the progress. It is very rewarding!
