Simple removal and install. You'll need a wrench or socket but the originals come out easy and putting these on is easier

Installed on a 2008 JKU. Went on easily enough, although the instructions packaged with the kit were for a different latch mechanism. My only serious complaint is that adjusting the latch tension requires loosening the two 10mm nuts retaining the upper bracket mounting and sliding the bracket a bit. This is a tedious arrangement and prone to slippage. A turnbuckle arrangement for the latch would be greatly preferred. On a lesser complaint, the release position for the latch doesn't clearly disengage and takes a bit of struggle to get it loose and open the hood. Milling the area where the latch impacts one of the pins would give a bit more room.Personally, I'll buy something else next time -- and there shouldn't have had to be a "next time" ...

Base latches are okay they do work but they're loose and the top screws fall out this is my second pair but look very awesome on a Jeep
