I've bought the standard carbide version of this bit before and I must say since I use 1/2 inch bits for dados on cabinet parts and I use a dado construction method on prefinished plywood I always get a nick 3/8 up from the tip within a month because the acrylic finish is much harder then the plywood. but Amana really knows their stuff. I've used this bit constantly for over a month and its still as sharp as when I bought it from top to bottom also because of its coating it doesn't make burn marks on the work piece or the bit and has pretty much no resin build up. I no longer have to clean my bits with lacquer thinners and a brush. its deffinatly worth the extra money if you want long lasting quality, clean, and crisp cuts. same can be said for all the other spektra bits. I pride myself on quality woodwork and this is the only solution.

I have now bought two of these bits. First one snapped on the first use. I accepted it as a fluke or possibly my fault. Second one did the same exact thing and snapped in the same exact place. I hadn’t even got the the point where I attempted to plung the 3/8†this plywood cut I was going to attempt. At this point I feel like I could buy 10 of the yellow brand garbage for the same amount as one of these. So frustrating.

I got this bit to cut into the top surface of a solid walnut desk, for a cable slot. The finish was outstanding, well worth the price paid!

You can really tell the difference when you use an Amana bit over cheaper bits. The quality of the cut is outstanding.I wont use anything else.
