This 3 flute solid carbide upcut rougher end mill has a 1/4" cutting diameter with a cutting length of 1". The shank diameter is 1/4" and the overall length is 2-1/2".

Rougher end mills remove lots of material with every pass. The Rougher feature limits the size of the chips preventing the bit from getting bogged down. These end mills are not meant to be used on the finishing pass of the project.

This was my first time purchasing a roughing bit, so I just purchased the cheapest I could find.It actually turned out to be pretty good. Roughs through my hardwoods like butter, which is a massive improvement from using a regular 1/4" flat endmill. Less tooling noise, faster speeds, greater depth of cut. Will definitely be adding roughers to my tool library, and this Yonico brand bit certainly has performed well. No data on longevity, only been using a couple of weeks.

I bought this to rough out material much faster the a regular endmill. Works Great!
