These really work well for sharpening chainsaw blades. You don't need any additional tools, just follow the guide on the chain and use a light touch. It works in a drill but a Dremel-type tool is much, much better, giving you more control. The one big caveat is that this is an extremely aggressive way to sharpen a chainsaw chain. When I first got these, I was in awe of how well they worked, and used it every time the saw needed sharpening. I learned that this is ultimately self-defeating. The problem is that they remove a lot of material and create a lot of heat. This shortens the life of the chain by physically ablating it, and also softens (de-tempers) the blade steel. The chain then needs sharpening again sooner, creating a vicious cycle in which you dramatically shorten your chain life. This is a very good tool but really should be reserved for sharpening dinged or chipped teeth, or a blade that has been worn beyond what can be easily brought back with a few strokes of a sharp manual file. Maybe it is possible to use this for regular sharpening with a really light touch, but I was never able to achieve that. After some trial and error, my procedure is to do 90% of my sharpening by hand, and then hit it with these only occasionally, when I really hit some dirt or have worn the chain badly. For the price, these last a really long time. The quality of the tool itself seems quite good. Definitely a five-star product, just be careful how you use it.

I have been DIY sharpening chain saw blades for 50 years and this is the first time I tried the diamond coated steel sharpeners. Long story short I will use up what stones I have and only use these diamond sharpeners in the future. The reason is the diamonds do a faster and better job. When stones grind down the diameter of the grinding surface is constantly changing so each successive tooth is being ground with with a different cimcurfance. The end result is sharpened chain that each tooth will cut differently causing the blade to grab & bind. These diamond stones are bonded to a steel cylinder so they maintain a uniform diameter or so close it is not noticeable, allowing the blade teeth to be be ground with much more uniformity. You will notice a difference, for the better, on the first cut after sharpening with these sharpeners. Heat removes temper from metal. To keep from overheating the blade I would suggest lower the rpm of your sharpener and make two ot three short grinds instead of one. I did find there are other sellers of these sharpeners with a slightly longer delivery time but less expensive price.

I have almost never found the terms CHEAP and GOOD used to describe any type of tool. Here is a rare exception to the, "You get what you pay for" rule. Using this burr in a battery-powered drill gave me a durably sharp 16" chain in about ten minutes. Simply eye-balling the original grind angles of the chain is sufficient to produce good results. These burrs need to be used at the relatively low RPMs of a hand drill to be effective and durable. RPMs in excess of 600 rpms will greatly reduce the life of the tool and the quality of the grind. If used in a Dremel tool, be sure to use the lowest speed setting and VERY light pressure to get a good result. High RPMs and excessive pressure with this tool will heat the chain's cutting link to a point that will both soften the cutting edge of the link and wear out the burr prematurely. Used correctly and with some basic knowledge of how the finished cutting edge should look when properly ground, these inexpensive burrs are a great solution to putting a quick edge on a dulled chainsaw.

I like diamond chain saw sharpeners over the grindstone type, as they work well at low speeds (less likely to overheat the chain tooth and take the temper out of it) and are all metal, with just a coating of diamonds (no stone to shatter).I have bought other brands that last longer, but cost more, but for the price, these work well. The best I have used, was made by E-Z Lap, which was USA made, and the grit seemed to last much longer. However, it cost as much for one burr, as this 4-pack, but maybe lasted 4X as long as one of these bits. When I needed new sharpener burrs, I could not find an E-Z Lap, and these were an acceptable alternative. They don't wobble or chatter, and cut fairly well. When the burr starts to look 'shiny', that means the diamonds are wearing off, exposing the base metal of the burr, and you will need to replace it shortly.

I can’t get the chain sharp as new with these, but close enough. These work well for me.

I’m pulling out my Almond orchard, and making firewood, so I’m going through a lot of chainsaw chains. I’m use a dremel like motor to sharpen my chainsaw saw chains. I have tried different 3/16” burrs, these burrs last a long time. I can sharpen at least 8, 18” chains before I can feel any loss of grit.

I GAVE up on sharpening my Husky chain by hand, WITH the husqvarna approved filing kit. I was doing more work sharpening the chain than cutting anything. I know, I'm whining, but I knew there had to be an easier way. So I looked into buying a Dremel, but i'm too cheap and bought the black and decker RTX. The tool works great, so I bought these diamond bits. Let me tell you, the RTX has 3 speeds, I used the middle speed and barely grazed the chain teeth... and the result was superb. Like cutting butter, so now I can't wait to go back the next time and use the highest speed to see what result I will have!I did the research, and others said to look into diamond bits, and I did, and now I'd recommend it as well to anyone looking for a sharper chain cut!

Bought these to sharpen my carbide chains. They do work well. As for durability? I've sharpened my 18" twice, so far. No sign of wear. I do recommend always wear safety glasses. Small particles will come off from time to time.

These worked well and did some major grinding. Was worried about quality. Seems good. Lasting just fine. Just dont heat them up. Would order again but still using the first one

Pour aiguiser scie à chaîne, satisfait ce qui pourrait être amélioré c'est la dureté du métal pour être amplifié pour une résistance accrue.
