I have used this on several (recreational limit) dives for underwater navigation. It worked exactly as intended and was reliable. I used it to take a bearing from the surface and then set the bezel. Once underwater I would follow the heading until I reached the wall or morning line, if needed I would place a temporary dive marker. After completing my dive and returning to the marked point, by placing the S arrow in the N spot, creating a reciprocal, the compass would return me to shore. The compass worked well on the back of my hand and was secure. The glow-in-the-dark worked well, I used it successfully on several night dives. This appeared to be equally accurate as my much more expensive Suunto skiing compass.

This compass does have a floating dial in flud. The magnetic card is slightly curved so it can be slightly tilted and still give a fair reading. But anything other than I'd say about a 7-degree tilt and it's only going to give you a rough approximation of your heading. The luminous dial is rather weak, but I do like the fact that you can hold a flashlight below it to illuminate it at light as there is a small window on the bottom.

General build and quality on the outside is ok but to be fair that’s only half the story. If you have this compass placed on a flat table then you can get around a 2-3 degree accuracy. That said when it’s on the wristband then you really struggled to keep this flat and even slightly off level there’s a pinch in the inner dial that at worst case as I’ve seen can be 15 degrees off.Given this is for diving and a potential life saver to get you back to the exit point……….spend money where it’s due, you only get what you pay for!
