tested the waffle maker, and found this was the problem. Had to buy an entire package of these, but they were still a fraction of the cost locally. and these were delivered to my door, and I've have to drive 2 hours return trip to the next town. what am I going to do with the extra, start an appliance repair?

Metal tabs are not positioned right to anchor into the hot plate. They should be inverted. Had to bend and secure with longer screws.
