It's ideal for juvenile king and milk snakes, as well as adult hognoses and even rat snakes, honestly any snake up to around 350 grams should be fine, any more than that and I fear it might bend, but thats obviously not what this item is intended for, it's clearly labeled as for small snakes and I cannot find flaw with it for that stated purpose. If you need a small light weight hook for managing a small snake with an excessive feeding response, this is probably the best bang for your buck. If you have a larger snake such as an adult boa or python, please don't buy this and complain when it bends, spend a little more and buy a robust model intended for larger breeds.
