Worked great. Used it with new full-size lathe. Just make sure it is snug with the different Forester bits shank diameters.

I bought this as an extension to a 3/8†forstener bit. This has 3/8†drive but the forstener bit sits in a round receiver w 2 hex tighteners. That is OK but the round receiver doesn’t accept the bit as it is undersized. I had to use a drill press to enlarge the hole as a 3/8 hex is actually nearly 4/10†at the points. I bought a second longer one that has hex for the bit and the drive as it is stronger. Still need hex to keep in place but in a round receiver they take the entire beating. Would recommend higher quality for long term use.

Seems to be an ok extension but does seem to have a little bit of runout. So far it has done what I needed it to do.

The collet diameter is 3/8. If your bit shaft is smaller, then placing it in the collet and tightening the set screws will result in the bit being off center. There needs to be a bushing that fits the collet for smaller size shafts or there needs to be set screws on both side, where when tightened equally can center the bit shaft in the extension. But as currently designed, my Forstner bit is not centered and wobbles. To overcome this, I drill as deep as I can without the extension, then add the extension and drill the remaining distance. Luckily for me I only need to drill another 1/2 inch deeper, so the wobble is not much of a factor, but contributes to a sloppy bottom of the hole.
