I love this little shredder!!! It’s small so it can fit anywhere you have space for it! They call it a desktop shredder, but we have ours sitting on the floor. If I have a lot of shredding, I will just move it up to our kitchen counter. It’s not lightweight, but still light enough to occasionally move from the floor to the counter. Think I read 17 lbs. It’s fairly quiet, but not totally, so if you want QUIET, this is not for you. It shreds GREAT!!! I love that it shreds it to such small pieces, almost like confetti! The shred bin fills up fast, so watch that you don’t let it get too full and back up into the shredder mechanism. Shred bin easily pulls out to empty it, so I would suggest after about 20 sheets, empty the bin. I have no negatives on this terrific little but mighty shredder.

What a great product! It does 12 pages. I didn't think I needed that but what a great call. It is small, but tiny is mighty. I wanted a bigger one and I am extremely happy with this purchase. Make sure to get the oil pages to keep the gears running smoothly. I had a lot of mail to shred and it knocked it out of the park. You will not be disappointed

I'm submitting this review in case others are debating, as I did, between this shredder and the Mailmate desktop format shredder. They seemed similar, so I initially purchased the Mailmate based on its then-discounted price at a certain office supply company named after a paper fastener. The particular item I got was a lemon that would not turn on, so I returned it, but it was immediately clear that I was not going to request a replacement--the build quality was just too flimsy, and the buttons seemed cheaply made and poorly seated. Instead, I purchased this Aurora model. This is basically the same size (maybe a smidge deeper) than the Mailmate, but it feels so much more solidly built. It also wasn't clear to me whether the Mailmate had an "auto" function as opposed to just forward and reverse. This one does. Compared to the GoEcoLife shredder it replaced, the Aurora is much quieter. The sound is surprisingly un-annoying, and I don't feel like I have to worry about bothering the neighbors when I shred. Even though I can't imagine giving this alleged "desktop" model as much real estate as it would need on my desk, the compact size is convenient for unobtrusive positioning in a corner. The receptacle for shredded paper is small, but it's not a problem for home use: the micro-cut waste falls more densely in the bin and creates much less volume than standard cross-cut for the same amount of paper, so you don't need to empty it as often as you might think. The pull-out bin is incredibly convenient, creating much less mess than older models that require you to lift off the shredder section and track confetti everywhere during emptying. The white color makes it less noticeable and minimizes the office-y effect of having a shredder in your room. There is also an Amazon-branded shredder that in photos looks identical to the Aurora except in black, but I preferred to get a white shredder for less visibility and paid extra (unfortunately typical across shredder brands) for the white one.

I had a stack of documents I needed to shred, and this device did the job.Pros:Good manual, strongly suggest reading itTurns your docs with personally identifiable information (PII) into unreadable confettiReasonably fool proof, but see ConsReasonably quiet, I was impressedFairly robust, but suggested to stick to the 12 page limit, it can jamThe forward and reverse switch were always able to assist with clearing jams...so farCons:Switch is fiddly and seems cheap. I think the company should improve the switch on future models. Could be a point of failure, and as it's a multi position switch, that probably means a shredded only good for the trash bin.No detector for a full confetti canister. Definitely err on the side of emptying too often, because it's hard to open when jammed full of confetti!Don't rely on the overload detector. I almost jammed it up to the point of having to consider some non trivial remedy. In this case, it was a set of folded sheets I did not unfold. Thinking it's best not to feed it folded paper unless it's only a few sheets.

I guess I worked my old desktop Staples shredder to death. While looking at websites for a new one, I came across the Aurora AU1285MD Compact Desktop-Style High Security 12-Sheet Micro-Cut Paper shredder. I liked the reviews and so I ordered. I've only had it about 10 days but very pleased with it. It is quiet and does the job. The only thing I do not like is pulling the basket out. It doesn't have a true handle as my old shredder so it is a bit awkward but something i just have to get used to. I would definitely recommend this shredder.

I was looking for a small good quality shredder for our home but most shredders are either bulky, too noisy or shred into large pieces. This is such a cute compact shredder that runs very quiet, micro cuts, and works perfect!

Buyer beware. WHY Does Amazon UK go to the trouble of selling to the U.K. market what seems to be a very well-reviewed shredder, but which is only compatible with a 120V U.S. power outlet? The shredder seemingly shipped all the way from the U.S. and arrived reasonably quickly. There is no mention in the listing of what voltage it is compatible with, or that it comes with a molded-on U.S. plug!If you buy something in your local market, you expect it to be compatible with the electricity supply in your market.Unfortunately it's not like a laptop's switch-mode PSU that can accept a wide range of input voltage, and just needs an adapter plug; this contains a mains-powered motor, specifically designed for only 120 V operation. Have to return this unfortunately.

I was supplied with a US version of this product so now I have to buy a transformer plug to switch from 2 pins & 120 voltage. It’s too heavy for myself or my disabled husband to return.
