With the Optical output set to PCM it worked well. It was used to get stereo TV Sound for someone who is hearing impaired. There is an independent volume control on the unit. It does need a USB power supply to operate. The power cable is supplied but not the 5v power module. Set up is simple provided you can set the TV to PCM

I purchased a JBL wireless speaker to use with my LG Smart TV, but I encountered an issue with the Bluetooth connection between the two devices. This optical converter proved to be a great solution and was easy to set up between the TV and the JBL speaker. One important detail to note is that it doesn’t work when selecting the "Optical Wire Only" option on the TV. Instead, you must select the "TV Speaker + Optical Wire" option for it to function properly. Overall, it’s a good product at a great price.

Needed to convert optical to 3.5m to hook up to a cheap amp - however no output. Wasted moneyEdit - someone from their company reached out and said I needed to set my TV audo output to PCM, I did this and it fixed the issue, it is now outputting sound to my amp. That being said, I can't tell if the quality is better or worse than connecting to the amp via Bluetooth, and with this you can't adjust the volume via the TV remote, only the amp, so it was probably a wasted purchase for me personally.But the initial issue was user error, it does work (thus far).

I have a Samsung smart TV that doesnt have 3.5 mm AUX ports . I have a set of older speakers with only AUX ports. What to do to get these to work together? This gadget is the answer. Basically, It converts the signal coming from my new fangled TV to something my old fangled speakers can understand. The directions to set it up are easy to understand. When I first set it up (its actually very easy, and you can probabaly figure it out without instructions) I was hearing alot of feedback from my speakers. They easily explain fixes for this - in my case, the 3.5 mm end was not pushed all the way into the little power pack. Once I did that - it all worked great. I'm very happy with this purchase and very gratified to be able to continue to use speakers that I've had forever and wanted to keep. My TV sounds great now.

Like another reviewer, my TV only has Digital Optical audio output and wanted to connect my bluetooth earbud case transmitter. Plugged in the optical cable to the TV and the supplied power cable to a USB outlet plug. Worked like a charm. I didn't need to change the PCM setting, because I think that's all my TV has and no Dolby.The only issue is controlling the volume. The unit has a volume knob, but it's out of reach over by the TV. So I have to keep both earbuds in and use them to control volume. The TV remote volume won't work since it's using the Digital Out source.

Using optical output on my LG TV and powering my Bose computer speakers using the 3.5 mm aux input on the Bose controller. Works great.
