You look at this thing and you think "it can't possibly work."I'm here to tell you that it does.I fished a rocky jetty in the wind, and let me tell you, your fly line will wrap around things as big as a boulder and as small as a snot-sized blob of seaweed if you don't put it into this thing. My buddy and I affectionately call it my "fly fishing diaper."Seriously: it stops your line from tangling and, somehow, your line will cast out of this basket without snagging.It's also cheaper than other brands, and I got couple bucks off the top because I picked the green one!Finally, it's fun to just leave around the house for a laugh. Eventually, without fail, someone will see it and just not be able to work out what it's for.

This time of year with wind and waves. a stripping basket is an absolute necessity. This basket works great and is comfortable to wear.

I really like the price and function. Why pay more when this works perfectly! Also I LOVE that you can put it on your thigh if you want I use that frequently. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because it says it comes with silicone spikes but I got none. If it had come with that it would be 5 stars all day

I just used this for the first time today and whoa! What a difference it makes. If you are surf fishing or fishing from a bank or shore. You should definitely invest in a stripping basket. For the money, this thing is more than great. Came with line spikes, drain holes, and the grooves to sit your rod on. The grooves/slots for your rod may need to be modified (I am going to make one bigger to for the cork end). But other than that, no tangles, easy to feed line in, it kept line in. 5 stars. Why is the grey $1 more? Who knows but, I spent it and it looks great.

Previous reviews complained on occasion that versions of this basket did not come as expected - they lacked the rod notches, silicone toppers, drainage holes, etc. Not sure what happened but it looks like the manufacturer listened and added all those little things. This basket is half the price of the Orvis branded one and will do the job great. It appears to be plenty large, tough enough and perfect for my need, which is fishing for stripers in Monterey Bay. Very pleased with my purchase all around!

Nice finish. Never used basket before. Took awhile to figure out neck strap. Some info sheet would be nice. Belt buckle is terrible and will not lock in place. Needed to replace.

I love this thing! I use it all the time. Whether it’s in a small boat to keep the line from tangling all over things, or on a dock or bank to manage the line and protect it, this thing is awesome. It’s also great priced!

Fly fishing is full of silly gimmicks to take your money. I've always thought these baskets were at the top of that list. The only reason I tried one was because I did some saltwater fishing from the beach and was told I'd spend more time untangling my line from seaweed, than fishing if I didn't get one.Naturally I jumped on Amazon to find the cheapest one I could use for the one outing I was doing. I figured it'd be easy to return it and get my money back too.That said, I love this silly thing! I've even started using it when fishing rivers that have lots of sticks or tall grass along the shore.My only complaint is the buckle.slides and doesn't want to stay where you set it to. I ended up using the belt on my waders for it instead and it works great. Since the belt is important, I knocked a star of because of it.Goofy or not, you'll love it.
