This canning set was perfect for me. The day after it arrived I purchased fresh strawberries andused the four canning jars to make strawberry jam from the recipe that came with the set. I did ctthe sugar to only two cups. I made some very good jam. Recommend this for sure.

I purchased this product mainly for the silicone pot liner to lift jars off the bottom of the pot. It fits my smaller pots perfectly (8-12qt). All other canning racks are only for large pots. The silicone liner has a diameter of 9". I wish that was in the product description, but it worked out!The item was packaged very poorly. My understanding is that that is the responsibility of Amazon, not the seller, so I do not fault the seller or the item for this issue. Writing this to make the seller aware of how their product is being treated.

The kit itself is fine, it contains everything you need for occasional use. I bought it because I needed to find a quick use for a mess of muscadine grapes I picked from the vine in my yard last weekend... the jam turned out perfectly and I've never canned a thing in my life! It comes in a nice box that you can store everything in if you plan to use it as little as I do.The only reason for the review is to alert others that the kit you receive may not be Ball branded... mine was branded Bernardin which is the Canadian equivalent. They are made by the same company and all the contents of the kit are functionally identical, BUT, I didn't know that without a Google search after the fact. Just slightly annoying to be surprised when I open the box and it wasn't mentioned in the description.

I bought this specifically for the round silicone mat to put in the bottom of a taller narrower pot I use for water bathing. IT IS PERFECT. It keeps the jars off the bottom of the pot amd keeps them from knocking around. So happy to have a much needed item added to my canning supplies. Highly recommend.

We bought a house with an apple tree having never “canned†anything. In fact, I assumed “canning†required actual cans until briefly before buying this. With the help of this set we learned how to can applesauce. So. Much. Applesauce. And it worked! We even bought additional jars at Michael’s and the “tongs†you use to pull the jars out of the water works for jars of all brands shapes and sizes. It’s a great starter kit! Also the rubber piece for the bottom of the pot is clutch. When that water is boiling it’s tough to gently place things in there. With that rubber piece you don’t really have to.

Take everything said with a grain of salt, I’d never canned before and never seen it done.This kit came with everything I needed! The “rack†(silicone mat) was too big for my six quart stock pot, but I made it work. I didn’t want to buy something expensive as I’m just learning, but I didn’t want to bug something cheap and have to pay twice. I canned four jars of salsa and I was SO excited they all sealed. Definitely recommend!!
