My first project was repair of a Splash Bath lift that had 12 NiMH batteries. I cut a few stripes of the supplied material for practice. Started with gear 5 but it was too much power so settled on 4. I connected 4 batteries, three times and then joined the three packs for a total of 14.4 volts. Not one bad weld. Very impressed with the welder. Now I have to build another battery pack for the other one since I have two but I have to decide what batteries to use after I observe performance of my repaired pack. The vendor contacted me prior to receiving the item to let me know they are there to help if there is a problem and also supplied additional instructions. Very satisfied with my purchase.

I charged it before first use and repaired 2 bad battery packs the first day. Welds are very good quality on the 18650 Batteries. I only used a medium setting for the welds.

I don’t usually review products I buy from Amazon. However, I am really impressed with this spot welder. Works very well for welding batterie packs. Plenty of power for such a small unit.

This device great for welding your batteries, I just wished it came with a fixture to hold your batteries in place as you are welding them together.

I have to admit I was pretty blown away. It's about the size of a large battery bank with 2 cables that come off of it that are the weld leads. You hold one on and then the other. As soon as the other touches, whatever your timer is set for counts down. I usually go 2 seconds. Then a quick buzz/spot weld and quickly remove the leads. Then you can do it again. It's simple but for what it is, it's pretty neat. I do think that if you just leave the leads in and don't be removing/installing them alot then this thing will probably last a good long while.

Just recieved the spot welder and it worked very well. I've used it so far only for about 3 batteries, but as of now I will be using it quite a bit.

If you are into DIY projects or are looking to save some money and fix your own electronics, then a spot welder like this can be an almost must-have tool.BUILD QUALITY:Right off the bat, this feels like a high-quality product made with top-end materials. From the packaging to the battery pack to the included materials, everything is well made. Everything except for the instructions. There is definitely a translation issue with these and they can be a bit confusing.BATTERY:The kit comes with a 7500mAh battery, so it has plenty of storage, and I had no issues with the amount of power it produced. Charging it took roughly 2 hours, but it had a charge on arrival, I've used it a fair bit, and it still has plenty of juice.FEATURES:The main features for me on this unit are the multiple settings for the thickness of the material, in fact, 99 so you can really dial it in, the large LED display so you can quickly view the info you need, and it's easy to set up and get started. The only issue I had was I wish the pens were a little bit longer.CONCLUSION:I really liked the way this unit worked, and playing around with the levels really allowed me to get the weld I wanted. It's small and portable, so you can use it pretty much anywhere, and the pens are comfortable to use, though a bit short, so sometimes it can be awkward to get the right position.WHY A SPOT WELDER LIKE THIS:So I had a few friends ask why something like this was necessary for connecting batteries. A quick and easy explanation is that it allows you to make a strong firm connection quickly and with minimal heat. 18650 batteries and any similar battery can be pretty volatile if used incorrectly. If you try to connect them with a soldering unit, you may end up heating them too much, and they can go into thermal runaway. This makes for a really bad day. So a unit like this makes working with those batteries way safer!WHAT I LIKED:• Well-built• Portable• Easy to use• Large capacity battery• Multiple levelsWHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:• Leads on the pens could be longer

The upgraded 7500mAh rechargeable battery is a game-changer, ensuring that you can work for extended periods without worrying about running out of power. It effectively minimizes downtime during charging sessions. One of the most impressive features of this spot welder is its portability. The compact and lightweight design allows me to take it anywhere I go, which is a huge advantage for someone constantly on the move. No more being confined to a workshop – I can now work on my battery packs wherever I please. The precision and accuracy of the spot welder are remarkable. It delivers clean and strong welds, giving me the confidence that my battery packs will withstand the test of time. The spot welder is specifically designed for 18650 batteries, enabling me to create high-quality battery packs with ease.In conclusion, the AWithZ Battery Spot Welder (ABS-U2) is a top-notch tool for any battery pack making enthusiast. With its user-friendly interface, long-lasting battery life, and unmatched portability, it is a must-have for anyone in need of a reliable and precise spot welder. I highly recommend this product, as it has revolutionized my battery pack making process.

Comes nicely packaged and as shown in the listing. Solid shell with decent materials; and an easily legible display that tells you key information like temperature and cycle count as you would want to monitor as you don't want this battery powered thing to burn down the assumed new set of batteries you are assembling. Probes are relatively short but are super flexible and easy to maneuver. Operation is very simple and was able to get some test welds done without much hassle at all.In terms of cons; the probes are only protected with a single layer of clear shrink wrap; and given the length of the leads, I would have hoped for a better insulating solution; easy enough fix of throwing on a few more layers for some additional protection; and you could probably add some more to the probe tip region as well.Overall, for the price and performance, would easily recommend this for somebody looking to try it out. I'm not sure this would last very long for more heavy duty / large scale tasks; but you'd want a more ergonomic heavy duty solution in that case anyway. In my book, works well as long as you exercise some common sense; wins a recommended from me!

I've never had a battery spot welder before but I did find a few repair jobs that came up just in time to test this one out. As far as attaching batteries together goes this unit is great, it welded the included metal tabs securely to the batteries with minimal effort and did not damage the batteries themselves. Beyond using it with the thin metal strips it lacks enough power to work with thicker metal even if they are well prepared and free of coatings. The compact nature and lack of power cord needed make this a great option for on the go jobs.

If you've ever tried traditional soldering onto a battery you'll know that besides being next to impossible, even if you get terminal strips and solder to stick, the results are 1. terrible looking and 2. typically fragile.Spot-welding is the solution and is how commercial battery sets and packs are made. Fast, great grab, good conductivity, strong. You'll make fast work of wiring up battery sets and packs with this tool. It's certainly a specialty product, but if you have the need for one, there's no substitute. Great for RC enthusiasts, sabersmiths, anyone rebuilding battery packs for their cordless tools, etc. Invaluable.
