Great price for a wire that was a pleasant surprise when I welded with it. Flux core wire has never been the cleanest process so the very low spatter from it was way better than I expected. The arc was smooth, steady and extremely smooth. It runs as good as or better than some premium wires that cost several times more than this one. I won't hesitate to recommend this wire.

Best flux core wire I have used and the price is even better.

The wire itself looks good. I had a quick project and intended to use this but my welder was set up for a different size wire and I didn't want to bother with changing the tip and wheels around, so I figured I'd wait until i had a larger project to work on to try this wire. Then I also noticed that the plastic spool had broken. I don't blame the brand or packaging because this item was shipped via UPS and was delayed multiple times after it was in their possession. The box was quite beat up but bit so bad to file a file as there was no obvious crush marks or tears. I'm still willing to try it out, or see if I can figure out how to get it on a new spool.

Last summer I bought a big spool of PGN brand welding wire. It wasn't what I'd hoped, and difficult to dial in for my purposes -- which are home and farm level welding. I'm no pro, so I chalked the problems up to gasless wire welding in general, with my inexpensive Forney welder.Well, not so! I was given this small spool of Big Red E71T-GS welding wire to review, and, wow, immediate difference. I like this stuff! For this review, I did a brief test on a piece of lightly rusted square steel tube, which I hand wire brushed. Temps outside where I welded were in the mid thirties with snow on the ground. These are typical kinds of situations for my kind of usage. This is not spotless-welding-shop, special-welding-table, thousand-dollar-welder shiny-metal-welding-stock work. It's real-life amateur 115v-welder fix-something-outside stuff, so apologies in advance to the pros for my welds. I still think you can see the difference between the PGN wire and the new BIG RED wire.In the photo I started from left to right with the PGN wire, trying each time to dial it in with heat and wire feed, and drag speed. I tried 3 different settings. I just couldn't get it to do much more than pigeon droppings, even though I've used a fair amount of this stuff in the past. The beads also turned black, and I don't mean the scale.I then removed the PGN spool from my welder and replaced it with the Big Red stuff and started a bead with the same settings that I'd used for PGN. Sam welder same settings, same workpiece. The difference was immediately apparent. First bead went on a smoother and hotter, and it stayed silver instead of turning black on cooling.I thought I could use a little less heat, and the second and third beads responded well to adjustments. There might have been a little more splatter with the Big Red, than the PGN, but the bead is so much better. It's also better than the Hobart wire I'd used before the PGN.The PGN just seemed to go on cold, even with the amps cranked all the way up on my welder, and slowing down never made do more than slump. Big Red on the other hand ran hotter, and just laid down smoother and was far easier to control.Well that's my experience anyway. Big Red is competively priced compared to the other brand, Sorry I have 10 pounds of the PGN I probably won't use now. But good to know I can do better with this rig.I will definitely be buying more Big Red brand when this sample runs out

Runs great on a Miller 211. The arc runs more consistent and way smoother than retail store brand flux wire. This is a great value over retail store bought flux core wire as well, coming in at nearly half the cost as some brands. Great value, easy to use, and works better.

Works as well as other name brand wire I have used. I'm just a hobby back yard welder but it works well and the spatter is minimal for a flux wire. I would get this again.

I am a amateur welder/farmer who has a $95 special flux core welder from HF. I like having that around because I can take it to the back 40 with a generator to make a repair if I have to.This spool showed up with a small chip in the rim of the spool but not enough to affect function.Running it on the bench due to the weather outside this seems equivalent to flux core wire I have used from anywhere else. In other words I'm not skilled enough to discern any differences from wire from the weld store. It will make welds strong enough for what I am doing. A great price and fast shipping from Amazon makes it a winner for me.
