I am impressed with the installation, quietness, programmability and overall value. You do need to understand proper pump requirements as far as minimum pipe lengths upstream and downstream of pump connections, and if piping it up, skills on PVC priming and gluing to avoid leaks. My pump replaced the original 1.5Hp single speed pump that just sucked power. This one can be programmed at (4) different speeds 24hr/day, and I discovered I didn’t even need to run it faster than 3000rpm for those short high flow periods you may want. 2500rpm actually matches the same flow as previous pump so hoping for good $ savings. I also would prefer NOT to winterize and utilize the previous temp sensor to operate the pump when ambient temp is 38degF or lower and there is another review that states he talked to tech support and there is a similar feature, however I haven’t gotten to that point since it’s not even Spring yet. At worst I could set it to run 1000-1500rpm when I know it one cold 🤞🏻 Really proud of this install!!

I love this pump - easy to install and set up. Primes easily and works very well and so much better than my old pump. Also you can't beat the price plus I got a rebate from my power company due to it's energy efficiency.

I have the 1.5HP version and, after several weeks, it is working like a charm. The main reason I spent more on the Black and Decker version over the Blue Torrent version was the 5 year warranty. More specifically, I looked up the people behind this B&D branded version, who check out as pool guys who actually know something about pool pumps, and I believe they will be around long enough to honor the warranty, if needed. The flexibility of the programming, once you figure out how to do it, is for most people more than you need. I only set 3 of the 4 speed options. The motor is quieter than my previous pump (I used to hear a humming inside my house, now I hear nothing). I greatly appreciate the 2 sets of pipe connectors. Adding up the wattage use as indicated on the pump settings screen, this thing seems to be using half the energy my previous 2 speed variable pump used. I've been tracking energy use and even though it is hard to accurately measure usage change, I can definitely say it is not using more. One suggestion I have to improve this product concerns the wiring housing. The hole for the NPT cord connector is too close to the back of the box to use a lock nut, which is an option I wish I had. I have a whole box of nylon cord connectors that I could not make work. The only option is to thread the connector to the housing, but I could not find a thread that fit. I dug up a metal connector, but the thread on that, even though the right diameter, would not thread properly. I ended up jerry rigging a combination of the metal and nylon connectors (it is secure and water resistant). I do not know if it was the connectors or the box, but the threads did not match. If the hole was moved maybe a half inch from the back, though, I could have accomplished a secure connection using a lock nut. Maybe in the future a wire connector can be provided?Besides that, another improvement would be better instructions. Luckily, there are a lot of video reviews of this product and I was able to set it up watching them.I will follow up if needed.

I ordered the Black and Decker 1.5 HP pool pump in April and installed everything in May. The motor works fine, with very low noise levels. The variable speed controls work great so far and are easy to program. Hookup to my existing plumbing was fairly straightfoward. However, my filter basket developed air bubbles while on a lower speed setting and that kept growing throughout the day. I checked every connection, replaced some O rings and used silicon grease on them. Didn't stop the air bubbles, but I was able to trace the source to the plastic lid on the filter basket. Adding some silicone grease to that O ring helped some, but did not stop the bubbles entirely. But, when I put some of the silicone grease on top, where the clear plastic meets the orange handle ring, the bubbles stopped. Either it's a bad O ring, or something is wrong with the plastic lid itself. I'm trying to contact Pool Parts to Go about this. Also, the cover on the variable speed settings broke off after only 2 months use. We were very careful and gentle in closing and opening it, but a tiny plastic piece broke on the hinge. Able to fix that with some heavy duty Flex tape as a new hinge.UPDATE: Pool Parts to Go got back to me on the same day I contacted them about the air bubble problem. They are sending a new O ring for the filter basket. Hopefully, that solves everything and I won't need a new filter basket lid. Good service. The O ring was the culprit and the new one works fine.2nd UPDATE: After running the B&D 1.5 HP pump for a full season, we are still very pleased with it's power, quietness, and various speed programming ability. It definitely saves on electric use over our old 2 speed Hayward pump.
