About this item

  • VERSATILITY: The scope camera is removable and replaceable. With just one borescope inspection camera, you can use any of the Bosch camera cables. This tool comes with a 5 ft. camera cable.
  • DURABLE: The snake camera is IP67 rated making it oil, water, dust, and antifreeze resistant. The waterproof camera is perfect for use in drains and other hard-to-reach places.
  • EASE-OF-USE: The camera screen includes an up indication function which indicates the up position of the camera when in tight spaces. An arrow on screen indicates the up position. Users can focus on the job at hand instead of determining which end is up.
  • ADJUSTABLE LIGHT: The endoscope camera features an adjustable LED light for increased visibility in engines, drains, and other hard-to-reach spaces. The user can optimize the lighting conditions for their viewing situation.
  • COMFORT: The inspection camera is equipped with an ergonomic handle for comfortable use, allowing for increased inspection duration.
  • IMAGE UPLOAD: The borescope inspection camera comes with a USB-C cable for fast and easy upload of images taken via the snake camera to a computer.
  • BOSCH 12V BATTERY PLATFORM: The inspection camera runs on the Bosch 12V Max battery system for exchangeable, long-lasting power. The 12V battery is compatible with all Bosch 12V products including thermal cameras, lasers, wall scanners, and more.

The Bosch GIC4-23C 12V Max Connected 5 Ft. Handheld Inspection Camera features a high-resolution, easy-to-see 4 In. display, assuring an in-depth, detailed inspection at every turn. The 5 Ft. camera cable helps navigate tight spaces on the jobsite. Like a compass, the tool comes equipped with an up indicator to signify which end is up. Easy to use, the keypad and menu are designed for intuitive product handling, with simple, clearly marked buttons to adjust the camera view and lighting. Documentation is important and the camera’s ability to capture photos aids in report creation and further analysis. With the featured integrated connectivity, transfer files easily via the included USB-C cable and view them at a glance in the gallery. Built for comfort, the device’s ergonomic handle minimizes hand fatigue for longer inspection durations. The rubber housing combined with IP67 (camera cable) and IP54 (tool, does not include battery and battery compartment) rating offer enhanced protection on the job. The inspection camera is efficiently powered by the Bosch 12V Max battery system for long-lasting reliability.

Prior to learning of this product, I have been buying cheap camera borescopes that attach to cell phones. And I can tell you there are a total pain in the neck to use. Generally speaking when using an inspection camera, you're covered in something icky and in cramped space. Feeding in the borescope line while trying to hold a cell phone is an exercise in stupidity. Between trying not to get your phone dirty or accidently disconnect the scope line and need to restart the application, why would I ever do that again after finding this holy grail of inspection products?!?What I love about this system is the handle is ergonomically sized and positioned to allow operation of the scope with one hand while leaving your other hand free to feed the borescope into the inspection area. This is the first scope that I've owned that has so many one touch features - zoom, video record, picture snapshot, light adjustment. The video quality is excellent and the snapshots/video are crystal clear.BOSCH has been my gold standard for years now on tools and this is no exception to that rule. Between the product and a professional hard case, the presentation is great. The borescope housing carries an IP-67 rating, so I'm not terribly worried about getting 'ick' on it. I can rinse it off without any worries of shorting i out. NOTE - The handheld portion is rated IP54 so it can take an occasional splash or two from water but it's not meant to be submerged or washed like you can do with the borescope snake, so if you do get stuff on it, wipe it off with a cloth. If it's really bad, I use wet wipes but I always take the battery out.I am sure you'll enjoy how lightweight this tool is and how easy it is to maneuver around in tight spaces. I didn't realize how much I rely on the orientation indicator now. I've never had one before and it's seriously helpful when looking inside a wall. And by far my absolute favorite feature is the camera light dimmer controls built onto the handle. No more fussing around with a stupid tetchy dimmer wheel located on the borescope snake. Now as I inspect, I can quickly change light levels to actually see what I need to in real time without dropping or disconnecting anything. After using this scope for just ten minutes, I determined I would never go back to anything I have on the shelf as they are just junk in comparison. This is a tool you'll want to invest in to ensure you don't drive yourself insane during the inspection and planning phase of your project, because those who use these tools know full well that the intel gained from the camera is just the first phase of the project. There is no reason to drive yourself nuts with cheap gear before you even get started on the real work! Thanks BOSCH for making my life easier. Now I look for any reason to get out the borescope and start looking around!

First off, the Bosch GIC5-27C is a 5 star product all the way. The build quality is incredibly solid and ruggedized, as would be expected for an inspection camera in this price range. It is well balanced in the hands and has a very nice rubber around the grip area. This is very helpful if your hands get wet or oily from doing inspections on a car or plumbing, and because it’s black, it will hide the grime well. The rubber bumper extends around the perimeter of the unit, and doesn’t have any harsh corners. Similar to a rugged tablet case, all the corners are beveled to better absorb shocks from any accidental drops or spills. The rubber bumper bezel extends over a quarter of an inch past the screen and provides a lot of protection. If this falls to the ground, it’s likely to land on the bumper, saving the screen from damage, and the plastic body seems very solid. I don’t think a drop will hurt this unit at all. The Bosch is very simple to use. Open the box, charge the battery and turn it on. It prompts you for basic settings and then it’s ready to go. The LED is bright with nice adjustability, and you can record both still and video to the included SD card. The inspection camera is a nice 11 feet long and has ip67 water resistance. It is also modular so you can replace if it becomes damaged. It has a good fitting case, 3 year warranty, with a 2 year battery protection plan. I also own a highly rated, but very inexpensive, non-brand inspection camera, and wanted to do a comparison between the tow. I inspected the same engine internals with both the non-brand and the Bosch. These pictures are shown here. The GIC5-27C has higher resolution images, and they do have more visible detail. In some images, the Bosch is worlds better, and others it’s just slightly better – but in all cases, the Bosch images do have more clarity. I also included am image inside my wall. I fished the camera up to check on a water line in the back of the shower. While the photo contains more grain then the ones of the engine internals, it’s also covering a much longer distance, and gets pretty good depth of field. It well lit, and you can clearly see the pathway of the water line, as well as the wood support. Is this unit worth the hefty price tag? That’s up to you. I’d have really liked to see an additional side camera on this, especially at this price point, however the build quality and image quality are definitely excellent, and I don’t feel this unit would fail you any time in the future.

Only used it twice and it’s proven itself. Wide spectrum of different uses in the remodel world.

I haven't had many opportunities that have warranted using this yet, but it was a lifesaver when I was helping my grandpa figure out what was going wrong with his truck and it saved hours, if not days, of searching for what would have been causing a stalling-out issue.
