The marketing design for this notebook, with the beautiful product pictures using vintage lighting, is quite impressive. In fact, everything about the packaging for this product is done superbly. It comes in its own box and shrink-wrapped in some durable plastic that doesn't tear easily. Some aspects of the design, however, seems misguided. The most obvious of which is the flap along the spine to hold the complementary gel pen. It unnecessary creates bulk for the notebook and looks just odd when the pen is removed. The extra material also doesn't help the cost (though I suppose that's not our problem), but a typical 1-inch loop in the back cover would've done the job quite well as a place to clip the pen on. The rubber band in the back cover also diminishes the look. If it has a flap from the back cover that reaches around the side to either magnetically attaches or clips to the front, that would've completed the vintage look more. The standard one-fold back pocket strategically hides the attachment of the rubber band on the back cover but can also hold small items as needed. The ivory paper inside is quite nice. It feels sturdy and lives up to the "100 GSM" claim. Two bookmarks are nice and colored strategically to not break the vintage theme (think goodness they didn't mindlessly choose blue or any neon colors). The earthy edge painting shows better in some angles than others and seems to work well only when the notebook is closed. The pages themselves have minimum adornments. There is only a "date" field on the top. Thinking a bit about it, that's probably all I need. The weather and day-of-week indicators on some notebooks are just distractions most of the time.A complementary fine-point gel pen is included. It is an average plastic pen and seems to deliver smooth-flowing gel ink. However, as I would do for all these notebooks, I recommend using a fine-point ballpoint pen instead to prevent ink smears and bleed-throughs. Another complementary item is a set of 12 stickers (black with gold prints) for the months of the year, presumably to use to mark places in the notebook to index when the corresponding months begin. Considering there are only 288 pages (as advertised) in the notebook, I guess I have to enter multiple days on some pages to fit a whole year in order to fully use the stickers. There are definitely things to improve on the design. However, as it is, the notebook is "pretty good." The normal pricing of it is a bit high. Currently, there is a 30% coupon which makes it an attractive item. I would hesitate if I had to pay the full price for what it is.
