I have been looking for months for a way to keep my cats out of my upstairs area and this works perfectly. I also like that it fastens with tension so no holes are drilled in my woodwork.The locks are pretty flimsy and I doubt this would work very well to keep dogs out as it is very lightweight, but that makes it easy to open and close and I like that.

Bought this because we liked the idea of the 2 swinging doors, and to keep the cats from sneaking out the dog door. The latches and the top and bottom of the frame are just plastic, and the bars are a very flimsy aluminum. Cat pushed right thru. Returning this for something sturdier.

This has been excellent at keeping my athletic 8-year-old cat out of her 20-year-old brothers' food. The instructions walk you through assembly, and installation is super-easy. The extender panel is fully adjustable, but you will want to know how much extension you need before you put everything together - making that adjustment is awkward due to the size of the panels. The gate opens fully, with almost no loss of doorway space, and there isn't anything across the floor to trip on - a great usability and safety improvement over the previous tall pet gate. It's about 6 feet tall, but there's still a gap between gate and ceiling, so be aware of what's around the install area - if your cats can get a high enough vantage point to jump from, they could still sail right over this.The whole assembly does seem pretty fragile. The gate is aluminum or a similarly light metal, the plastic clips and latches feel like they're brittle, and I'm pretty sure that I could walk through the gate and snap both latches without even trying.If you're looking at this to contain a large dog, I don't think this gate is for you. But for containing a cat, where there's a lot more potential vertical mobility than total mass, it works just fine. (Owners of Bengals or similar breeds be aware, though, I can see your feline Olympians sailing right over this.)

We got this because I have two a hole cats that like to fight. I figured this way they could still see each other but not make too much contact. The durability is very good for hollow aluminum. I very much like the way it is set up in that it's just pressure between the floor and ceiling, allowing us to move it whenever we want and make it however tall or short we need it. It also comes with a small extension so you have about 6 inches of wiggle room to widen it. Very easy to get in and out of, but holds up to a decent amount of pressure. I don't think I would get this is I had a medium sized or larger dog, but for cats and small dogs it's absolutely perfect!

The instructions make no sense. At all. Even the pictures were frustratingly unhelpful. I am a person who has no trouble assembling IKEA stuff, but this.... It was easier to toss the instructions and go "Hmmm... this looks like it *might* go here, so let me try it" It took over an hour for a build that would have taken 10 min if the instructions were clear.Other than that, it is sturdy enough, works well, was packaged well, and arrived on time. It won't stop a toddler, but will stop a cat. It might stop a dog, as long as they don't push too hard. The lock/latch is plastic, so it won't stop much that just closing it won't. But it does what I wanted. I can't complain too much

This was perfect to keep out new kitten separated from our existing cat - to help them get to know each other safely.Easy to assemble and use.The pressurized rods hold it very strongly to the floor and ceiling. Our kitten jumped in it and climbed half way up- it held.Great product, well worth the price.

Was disappointed that the gate and latches were cheap plastic. Felt like the latches would snap if the gate was pushed too hard. Also the tension poles didn’t hold very well.We returned it.

I ordered this to keep our cat from being able to go near our Christmas tree when we are out, or for overnight. Prior years we put our cat in a room and shut the door when we needed to go out or for overnight during the holidays to not damage our tree. This is great as it allows our cat more freedom to the whole house while only keeping him shut out from our Christmas tree when we can't watch him. This gate is perfect for what I was envisioning it being able to provide. It is sturdy, installs easily, and will pack away to store for next years holiday season. It is a little more money than what I was hoping to spend to take the stress out of living with pets during the holidays, but it will be worth every penny as we will use it for years to come. My full grown adult cat can not get through it, under it, or over it. Yes, I would recommend this to others.

Got this to close of an area of the basement from my cat. Had tried using child gates previously but they were either not wide enough and were low enough my cat could always jump over. This gate has a definite advantage in height and width and works really well.Things to note: instructions can be a little unclear. It affixes floor to ceiling so make sure you have a good, solid floor and ceiling to hold it in place.

I put it at the bottom of my basement stairs to keep the cats out of the basement. The telescoping poles easily reached from floor to ceiling, I didn’t end up needing the expansion pieces to make it wider. Bought a second one for my parents and their cats.
