Your cart is empty.Celestron Counterweight is there to balance weight of the optical tube (OTA) and accessories on the other side of the Right Accession (RA Axis). If you add accessories to your telescope setup (ie camera, guider, etc), you may need to add additional counterweights to off-set the weight. This counterweight comes with a sturdy knurled knob locks to safely hold in place on the counterweight shaft. The counterweight is designed to fit 19mm counterweight shafts.

The only other review indicated that this weight may not have been the item as advertised. I need the smaller 11lb in order to balance lighter DSLR and lens gear. I already have a 17lb weight and it is too heavy. The description said there was a choice of weight but when I completed the order there was no choice...so I did not finalize the order...instead I did a bit more research. The item number listed on this page is 94203. A search on the Celestron web site revealed that this is the 11lb weight.2/26/14 Update. After my research I submitted a request to Amazon to have the item description changed. I included links to the Celestron site clearly showing that this item number is only for the 11lb weight, within 24hrs the description was changed. Today I received that counterweight. It is indeed the 11lb weight. I selected standard shipping, was expecting this in 5-7days but, as always, items shipped from Adorama seem to arrive at my house within a much shorter time. Item was securely packaged and undamaged. Fit and finish matches my existing 17lb weight. Because the description was updated and I received excellent delivery time I'm bumping this up to 5-stars. I have had dealt with Adorama several times both directly and thru Amazon and have always been very happy, the Amazon/Adorama combo is awesome. I still have not tested the balance on my mount but I know from previous testing with temporary weights this counterweight is the correct one.

A bit pricey for a hunk of steel, but it keeps the scope's esthetic looks as opposed to homemade weights.

The issue of course is not the counterweight - a very good chunk of metal it is. The issue is that the site specifies you can use it with the CGEM family of mounts. I have the CGEM-DX and the hole in the center of the weight is much too small. This weight is for the CGEM family *except* the DX.

They say this is available in 11 or 17lbs. I was hoping I would be contacted or there was some place to modify my order to make sure I received the 17lb weight. I decided to just let the order run through to see what they would send. Luckily the 11lb weight still works for my mount and OTA combo, but they most definitely need to clear up and say exactly what you're buying!

Shipped fast and is a oem product, helped me balance my goto.My telescope weighs 23lbs,The 17lb c-weight that came with the cgem just wasn't quite enough.So this works perfectly.

Arrived when promised. When I added it to the counterweight the mount came with, the scope balanced out perfectly.
