I do like the guide on the file. just because I dont sharpen so much anymore as I been retired a few years and tend to forget when you only touch up the chain a few times each year.none for some years - just property maint, so - yeah a casual home user that appreciates the guide to keep me on the edge ;)

I have tried several "make it faster and easier" chainsaw sharpening gimmicks and have come to the conclusion that a little old school file work with some guidance on the angle and depth of the file cut will give near professional results. This product does that.

I've only got a little 'toy' chainsaw with a very short blade,i've used this to sharpen the chain after i stupidly tried cutting tree roots in the ground (nothing dulls a chainsaw blade faster than soil)It takes a little bit of figuring out which way to hold it, the instructions tell you want to do, but it's one of these things where only experience from using the tool helps get the best from it.
