I happened to have cherries at home when this arrived so I had to give it a try. I quickly learned that you have to push really hard so that the button is completely flat and it works best if you evenly spread out the cherries (in case you don't have enough to fill it). I only know this because I tried it a couple of times with just one or two pitts being pushed out, so instead of refilling it, I would try again with the remaining cherries. Finally when I had 4 left, I centered them evenly with one in the middle, pushed hard and they were all pitted. This device is great for when you need a bunch of cherries at once for smoothies or recipes. So much easier than cutting them and trying to pry the pit out and so much less messy.

Been waiting to review this since August, but never saw cherries in the store until January. Strange! I really dislike having to eat cherries with pits (and spit out the pits). I have a couple of one-at-a-time cherry pitters, but they are not really practical for preparing more than a few cherries for one person. So I was excited to have this seven-at-a-time pitter show up. Well, got to try it tonight, and it works! Yes it takes a bit of force, but certainly not a problem for me or my wife (both seniors BTW). I thought it was great: 21 pitted cherries in just a few minutes. Can definitely recommend if you need to pit cherries for more than one person.
