A sewing awl that will slide between threads instead of poking accidentally through and splitting them. How did I not discover this before? Smooth metal shank and quality manufacturing. I do wonder why it has the narrow spots near the handle though...I don't like that, as I usually want to stretch the hole wider than that when doing eyelets, and I have to switch to my non-ballpoint awl which does not have these narrowed sections. (Somebody probably knows why they are made that way, but I mystified.)

Every professional seamstress has an awl next to her machine. This is a good one that has a little bump on the end so you don't ram it through your fabric. HANDY!

This awl is perfect for making holes in my whitework needlework. It's a solidly constructed tool that feels good in the hand, and the ball tip is functional and safer than a pointed tip. I bought this to replace a beautiful wooden awl whose stain transferred to my needlework, so I also love that this one is stainless steel. Highly recommended, and I'm seriously thinking about buying a backup.

This awl is wonderful! Provides the Sewist a quick way to correct thread errors. This is especially helpful with hand embroidery and cross stitch projects. CLOVER brand products are wonderful!!

I sew leather on an industrial machine that I’m pretty certain could sew right through my finger including the bone. I use a stiletto OFTEN. Often enough that it’s on a magnet directly to the right of my right hand. This one is the BEST as there’s no worry about putting holes in my expensive leather OR myself.

This is exactly what I was looking for. No sharp point like other awls. Great for feeding fabric into the sewing machine. Does not stab through the fabric.
