While replacing the anode rod in my water heater, the old rod broke off inside the female pipe. The only choice was to buy a new water heater or find a way to get the piece of broken pipe removed. This tool did the job in about 10 minutes. I put some penetrating oil on it first then slowly threaded this tool in. It cleaned out the pieces of old pipe and I was able to keep my water heater.

Fit perfectly my hot water tank in the RV. Easily cut away the corrosion. Now im wrapping my anodes better with plumbers tape. Worth 5 stars if amazon could package correctly, how they dont care is bonkers.

really put pressure on this tap, was afraid it was going to snap, I put treads in hardened steel on a wood splitter tank, slow and easy it worked

Useless for my application. I needed to fix a thread on a drop ear elbow inside a wall. Nobody but nobody makes a tap wrench with a large enough chuck to hold 1/2" square shank.

If you're looking for a good quality tap, this isn't it. I managed to cut threads into an aluminium Honda cylinder head, with the help of thread cutting oil and a lot of patience. However, the leading edges on the tap were extremely dull, right out of the box. Not surprisingly, the quality of the threads it cut leave a lot to be desired, but it did serve my purpose. For $10 I suppose it's worth the money, but I'd rather have spent a little more and had something that would cut steel also. I can't imagine this thing cutting anything much harder than aluminium and that was a stretch. If you buy this tap, think in terms of filleting a fish with a butter knife and you'll be right on the mark.

The plastic drain valve on the hot water tank started to leak after 10 years of use. It broke when removing it and blocked the threads on the tank drain pipe. After a lot of search on Google, I learned that it is a 3/4-14 or 3/4 NPT thread type. This tap was the most economical and quickest item that I could find in the entire Greater Toronto Area. I used a 19mm socket to drive it and it cleared out the plastic debris so that I could install the new drain valve. The best part is that we got hot water again.

Worked on cleaning up threads on hot water tank anode spot. 3/4" did the trick and now I can install the new anode. Great value compared to in-store cost of similar products.
