This is a well made, sturdy tool. It works well in firm soil, but I live near the coast in Florida. When I attempt to use it in the sandier parts of my lawn, the soil falls through. This would be a five star review if that has been mentioned in the description.

Got this for him for bday. He says it's super easy to use. He likes the comfort of the handles. So it's easy for him to pick up the grass. Not heavy at all. A kid could use it. Cool design. Seems to be good quality. He wishes the amount of grass it picked up was more . But all in all he enjoys it.

The tool is sturdy and does cut a nice plug. However, the directions say to wet the ground you will be working. With the flower bed already somewhat wet I went ahead and started cutting plugs but found because of the wet soil, the plugs would not come out without great effort. The other problem is that the tool doesn't really dig deep enough for most bulbs--but that limitation is actually there in the tool information.

i used to buy the sod plugging from Lowes/home depot which cost around 15$ per tray. This tool saves lot of money, now I just remove sod from different area of my yard to the dead spot. Easy to use.

Pressing the plug out using the Raised Pedal requires a very specific type of soil for the contraption to effectively work. I have some clay in my soil that compacts in the sod plugger and will not fall out regardless of how hard I press on the the Raised Pedal. I think this tool will work fine in soil that is isn't too dense.

This tool is incredibly better (easier, less painful, & faster) than leaning over trying to dig holes for bulbs or small plants. It's sometimes a little cumbersome to drop the dirt out of it but I think I just have to get used to the foot lever to push out the dirt. I actually love that feature which isn't on many of the other stand-up diggers. It's also very sturdy, and easily dug thru the heavy clay ground that's in my yard. I have no concern about it bending or breaking. I'll never go back to my manual digging tools again.I recently showed this to my neighbor who was on her knees planting her flowers, and she just RAVED about how easy it was for her to quickly finish digging the holes needed compared to doing it by hand. She's buying one, too!

Got this to help with planting all my fall bulbs. Was way better than digging the holes by hand. It was easy to set up and worked well. Wouldn't want to use it on super compact soil but we'll drained soil was effortless.
