I bought this cam for my worn out 400 Modified v8. This is in a 1977 F-250, 2wd, manual 400/6.6L camper special with a dana 60 @ 4.10 ratio.I had a stretched timing chain meaning that my stock cam was even more retarded than it started out from the factory, stock is ~170hp, it feels liked 200-220 now, its a big difference. this is not dynoed, just my impression. The install: (instructions below)Install was as easy as putting a cam in a pushrod V8, no engine removal needed. The break in: (instructions below)I called Comp cams and they said to not use an oil ADDITIVE always use a break in oil. I used SAE30 from lucas, order this while you order your cam so you have it once you need it.Conclusion:This wasn't that hard, but also requires focus. The power is good, idle is good, and vacuum is low, I can only get 10-12, expected/ideal would be 17-22. truck runs amazing, and has a few stalling issues, but that existed before the cam, I rebuilt my carb right before the cam install so I attribut that to tuning I have yet to complete. Exhaust tone is between farm truck, and notably cammed. How to install:-Remove fan shroud and radiator.-Remove accessories, tie them to the side, remove the crank pulley and remove Harmonic balancer.-Remove water pump and keep track of bolts, then remove the timing cover, (its a hard fit on the 351c/m and 400, the factory seal install requires the oil pan be dropped. I didn't want to deal with that, so I just used a fat bead of RTV and it seems to be holding.)-Climb up into the engine bay to save your back.-Rotate engine to TDC (look at the timing marks right in front of you-Remove the timing chain, then reinstall the cam gear on the cam, note that the cam gear peg should point down the crank keying (line on the shaft) should point up.-Cover the timing cover opening and remove the carb, Distributor, and ignition coil.-Remove intake and note if any bolts have rust, or oil on them, this signifies a leak close to the hole worth noting.-Remove valve covers, and valve rockers (keep the rocker, bolt, and pushrod together. while removing, note if any pushrods are bent, one of mine was and I didn't notice till I spun it, rockers and rods need to go back where they came from, cyl #1 valves need to go back where they came from, Cyl1 intake goes back to cyl 1 intake, etc)-Pull out the lifters, they're slippery. a small flathead allows you to grab the retainer spring in the hydraulic assembly.-Once this is done, its time to remove the cam, you don't need to remove the grill to have space for this, pry gently on the cam gear, and the cam will slide out, there is sometimes a small lip in there holding the cam in place. once you get past that it'll pop out, cams are brittle, don't break anything.-Soak the lifters in oil so they can fill up and be sufficiently lubricated.-Clean the new cam with brake cleaner, then use the supplied assembly lube on the whole cam, attach the gear loosely, and use that to navigate the cam into the engine, take it slow, don't nick or ding your new cam.-uninstall the cam gear, and reinstall the new timing chain.-install the lifters (make sure they've been soaking for an hour or more), pushrods, valve rockers-reconstruct your engine (including coolant)Break in process:-Change oil and filter with the break in oil.-Disconnect the coil wire, and crank engine for 10 seconds then wait 30 seconds, repeat 4 times.-Start engine, rev at 2000-2500 rpm up and down slowly and keep an eye on oil pressure and temps.-You'll need to burp the cooling system while doing this, so have a helper if you can.-Continue revving for 25 minutes, then you can set your hot idle and shut off, make sure you still have oil pressure and no weird noises.-Turn off, let cool, change oil/filter YES I KNOW IT HAS 0 MILES ON IT. its full of camshaft glitter, do it.-keep an eye on your oil and oil changes for the next few oil changes. some glitter is normal on the first oil change, any Glitter is bad after 1 or 2 oil changes.

Works good, runs great, plenty of power through out the rpm range. Deffinately a good upgrade.
