Works great with my 18V makita 5ah batteries. Takes about 10 seconds to get up to operating temp. Trigger lock is OK I wish it was easier to release but still a solid tool for the price.

The heat gun works great! It gets hot enough to do anything you need it to do. Only problems are that it’s slow to heat up and it drains battery super fast. Other than that, it’s a great tool.

Can't believe how well this works. All the guys at work come borrow it all the time. On a 5 amp battery on the highest fan and heat setting it will run for just over 10 minutes.

Takes several minutes to get up to heat. Max temp is just barely hot enough to be useful for heat shrink tube if you're patient enough. Absolutely doesn't get anywhere near hot enough for soldering like it advertises. Doesn't even get hot enough to be uncomfortable when pointed at the hand.

Using this with my milwaukee m18 batteries for more than 5 minutes causes the battery to think it is dead. After a few minutes, the battery recovers.Other than this which makes me worry it is ruining my batteries, it gets hot fast and has been helpful several times.

I restore vehicles so I'm constantly making repairs to wiring harnesses and accessories. I've been using a 110v heat gun when I'm within corded range and a small torch when I'm mobile, so a battery powered heat gun seemed like the perfect solution for my needs. Within the first 15 minutes of use I realized I made a big mistake by purchasing this heat gun.First issue - slooooow heat up time. My corded unit heats in seconds whereas this battery powered one takes minutes, I would estimate 3 minutes to get hot enough to do anything. Boo.Second issue - battery life. My Makita 18v batteries last for 1-2 weeks even though I use them daily. This battery powered, life sucking, vampire heat gun lasted maybe 15 minutes. I put another battery in thinking the other one may not be fully charged, same thing. Battery life is a real problem when a good portion of that time was just waiting for the gun to get hot enough to do anything.Unfortunately I had to give up on this tool and go back to what I was using before, at least those methods work

Use this mainly to fit heat shrink tubing and mini solder seal connections in locations where a wired tool would be impractical. Does the job perfectly and the different end attachments allow air flow to be directed where needed without risking heating other items nearby.
