I'm a brasshorn player, and I've enjoyed brief forays into the world of flutes for improving my breath control, but I've never bothered picking up a flute stand before. Oh, how I should have! Immediately I can see the benefits; rather than stay tucked away in its case on a shelf, forgotten for months on end, now my flute can live out in the open, taking up a minimal amount of space in my practice area but always visible out of the corner of my eye. Having it conveniently at hand makes me more likely to take a few minutes' break from routine practice and work some controlled free blowing exercises. Is it the nicest, most stable, bombproof flute stand in the world? Probably not. Is it good enough? Probably. Do I like it? Yes.
