Follow the instructions. Also there are tons of videos online on how to do it. I'd never done it before and didnt take long to get the hang of it - rewired 4 lamps!

I gave it four stars because it works and it does what I need it to do.It has one little teeny card with a very small diagram and very undetailed instructions.If you're like me and you're not an electrician and you've never done this before after wiring and rewiring four times here is my advice to you:Read through all the directions before starting!Do not remove the cardboard from the pieces!Make sure to figure out which is the hot wire before you get started, which is the not-fat-plug.Make sure to thread the wire through the bolt the washers the post and the housing unit before you wire the unit. Basically everything and obviously in order.Other than the directions lacking big time for a beginner once you've done it you'll always be able to do it easy peasy!

This is a simple, but perfect kit to do simple lamp repair kit. All needed parts are in this kit. You will need to make sure you know how to do this, or look it up online, instructions are not included.

I’m giving it 3 stars because by George I was able to use this kit to bring a lamp back to life, but it was not without consulting many a YouTube video and how-to guide online. The little “instruction†card that comes with it features a diagram/picture that is not even remotely accurate or particular to the components of the kit. The instructions are extremely simplistic, lacking specificity and seemingly written by someone who used their best guess to determine how all the components fit together. But although I considered returning this kit, I am not one to back down to a challenge, and so I persevered. If you know what you’re doing and don’t need instructions, then this is the kit for you. So far so good I suppose, as I am not writing this review from the grave after having been victim to an electrical fire originating from my lamp that was repaired using this kit.

I have never in all my 40 years, knew how to rewire a lamp. But when my favourite one died, my cheap ass refused to replace it. This kit saved me well over 100 bucks. Cost me an hour and a half of my life because I did this without YouTube. But I did it and that’s all that matters.
