The vine charcoal sticks I have were too thin for this and the clamp couldn't get small enough. Oh, well, I'll keep it and maybe I'll have some thicker sticks someday.

It does what it advertised to do.But I was disappointed that it only holds the charcoal that is sold with it. I does not hold another size. So to use it we have to buy new charcoal. We have different sizes of vine charcoal .That is what I was wanting for my students. I have two holders that fit different sizes. I wanted them for my students.I will keep looking

This is great! I work with a lot of charcoal and with this tool I have a much longer grip and control of my medium and also my hands aren't as messy.

I bought this for a figure drawing class. It worked very well. It worked better than the charcoal I bought. I was happy to have it because it gave me a lot more control over the charcoal. I would recommend this product.

I own a very similar charcoal clutch holder (same basic design, different brand) and purchased this smaller one so as to have two holders and because I thought it might be useful to have one that was suited to thinner twigs of willow charcoal. This means I have a clear point of quality comparison. My original holder was well constructed, sturdy, and all the exposed metal edges had been smoothed. The one I received with this order was the complete opposite in every way: the metal section pulled off the black handle the very first time I went to use it and the exposed metal edges had rough, sharp edges that could easily cut the user. For the price charged, this wasn't good enough. Yes, it could probably be repaired – the handle glued back in and at least some of the metal edges filed/smoothed – and if the price were under AUD10.00 I might have done that. But at AUD20.00+ it was a clear case of return-for-refund. If you need a charcoal clutch holder, I recommend you keep looking.
