Measure the dimensions of your current igniter and the resistance. The Pit Boss original igniter had these exact dimensions and online I found that a proper igniter should read about 75 Ohms. That's 200 Watts with 125VAC. This fit perfectly in the firepot and the wires were the same length with the same connector so it installed just right. Put the smoker together and do a test run. After that, I did a 12 hour brisket cook and it worked flawlessly.A two pack is handy because these rods do eventually burn out. My original one lasted 3 years but getting a replacement locally is impossible. Fortunately, this arrived on the same evening so I only lost 1 day in cooking on a Memorial Day weekend.

My grill is over 3 years old, and I had to use a screw extraction tool to get several of the screws out. There is also a rubber gromet that doesn't allow the igniter to go through, so I had to loosen the pellet hopper to pull it out. Long story short, a job that Pit Boss shows taking 10 minutes or less took a couple of hours, including a trip to Harbor Freight for the screw extractor. These issues have nothing to do with the igniter, I just wanted others to know that it might not be as easy and simple as Pit Boss video shows it on a new grill. Once installed, it works great!

I ordered. It came quickly. I found a YouTube video explaining how to replace the hotrod and fire pot. Replacing them was easy, and the new hotrod still works after months of near daily use. Recommended.
