The head is drop forged and polished. The head and claws are hardened while the center is drawn back. The softer center acts as a shock absorber greatly reducing the chance of cracked or broken claws. Dead On hammers feature the finest grade of hickory to give you years of trouble free performance. Cylindrical Wedges expand the hickory in a 360 direction eliminating voids.

Heavy and feels high quality, but for a professional carpenter it didn't last as long as most. Would be great for around the house, but would recommend a lighter weight version for that purpose.

Handle broke pulling its first nail. Bought another thinking it was a bad run of handles and that one broke as well. Contractor for over 15 years. You get what you pay for. Steer clear of this one.

The handle is too thick and smooth to maintain control, especially when wearing gloves. Dropped it on the first day on concrete and chipped a large piece off the end of the handle.Get what you pay for
