I got this after having to get a protection order against someone. I used this for my mother’s house and my lord was it easy! Absolutely comparable to other locks with brand names that cost a lot more. Smooth locking. Highly recommend this!

If you are reading reviews trying to make an educated decision in selecting an aesthetically pleasing DOUBLE CYLINDER deadbolt….then you know just how difficult it is to find a double cylinder ( key needed to unlock from both sides) under $100! My husband and I have spent the last 9 mos.remodeling our home , so we have researched and purchased many many items along the way. We bought this deadbolt the last week of May, but due to remodeling delays we were not able to install this lock until November 16, it lasted almost 2 mos. until it failed ( when key was inserted it would not turn the bolt to open position) on January 15, 2025 when we were returning home (all tired and starving) at 2 am after taking my 87 year old mother to the ER( which took 7 long hours of testing/ waiting/ testing/ waiting.) So plan on adding another $200 + dollars to the initial cost of the deadbolt to pay an emergency locksmith , if you can find one at 2 am. Our back door is our primary point of in/ out due to our parking situation. We don’t even have the new front door key on our key ring because it doesn’t get used and now in the middle of us still remodeling it is elevated off the ground and cannot be used again until a new deck is built. We spent several hundred dollars on a new deadbolt and handle for our front door and I thought we could save $60 by purchasing this non-name brand “Lock Scoutâ€. Bought this for my new crawl-space door which is now insulated, thick, and sturdy.- This deadbolt was easy to install. Had clear instructions if you've never done it before.- I really like the smoothness of the slide when I lock and unlock it.- Keyed exterior, and large twist bolt/handle on the interior.- We'll be using our tall crawlspace as a shelter for tornadoes and extreme wind. Our home is at the top of a 20 mile valley, with only farmland to slow the air-flow. (lots of wind all the time) The interior bolt/handle is easy to slide, and there is no key to worry with on the inside of the lock -facing inside my crawl space- If people inside taking refuge are nervous about whats going on outside.- It is well built, sturdy, and has a protective sheen on entire bolt and mechanism- My expectation is that it will be resistant to rust.- I anticipate it will hold up to the extreme weather changes here in the mountains of East Tennessee.
