I’m glad I combed through the reviews to find the helpful and knowledgeable people who told me to take off the hexagon plastic piece off the stem (excuse my lack of knowledge of correct terminology). The screw included wasn’t long enough so I took the old screw to the hardware store and asked for the same and one longer just in case.Ps- if the plastic hexagon thing is hard to take off, I read a review that suggested vinegar. I soaked a paper towel with vinegar, wrapped it around the stem/plastic, making sure I saturated the threads (? Wording?) , and came back 20 mins later and used pliers to gently wiggle it off. After that popped in the replacement and screwed it in.

Installation was a breeze. The kit includes the necessary button and set screw, as well as clear instructions that are easy to follow. Within minutes, I was able to replace my old worn-out handle with this new one, without any hassle or additional tools required. The fit was precise, and the handle securely fastened to the valve.Once installed, the handle operates smoothly and effortlessly. The turn mechanism is precise, providing accurate control over water temperature adjustments. I appreciate the reliable and consistent performance of this handle, as it ensures a comfortable showering or bathing experience every time.

This was an easy install once I realized that the plastic hexagonal piece that was attached to the end of the stem was NOT supposed to be there and needed to be removed. The handle I was replacing was installed over 20 years ago, and over that time the hexagon insert attached itself to the stem, so when I removed the old handle, the hexagon insert stayed behind. This is not a hard situation to remedy, but after searching online I must say there is a LOT of bad advice and inaccurate assumptions that this hexagon is meant to be there and that there must be a replacement handle that it will fit. SIMPLE SOLUTION: Try to gently pry the plastic hexagon off the stem. If it won't come off, clean the stem and hexagonal piece well with vinegar and water. Try to gently scrape off any residue that might be making the hexagon piece stick. If it still won't come off, apply Goo Gone or something similar inside and around the edge of the hexagon piece. I used a Q-tip for this, and it came off fairly easily afterward, where initially it wouldn't budge. With the old hexagon piece removed from the stem, installing this knob was a breeze. Simply screw it into place and snap on the cap. This is a very inexpensive fix for an unsightly, cracking old handle. 5 stars.

Looks spiffy. The offset screw hole fit my stem no problem (too much inuendo?). Tip for installation: place screw in the hole in handle BEFORE sliding the handle onto the stem. Engage the screw before fully sliding the handle onto the stem. Then tighten the screw and lag the handle on. I was having difficulty with cross threading the screw because the head of the screw they supply is SO WIDE it would press against the inside of the handle and not engage the stem straight on. Getting the screw in the hole first solved that right quick.

Perfect fit and restored my 30 year old shower handle to look like new.Ignore all the one star ratings. They were written by people who ordered the wrong style. This handle is for older Delta faucets. I believe pre 1999. It’s not for the newer cartridge style.

This didn’t fit my shower cartridge. As others mentioned, it is off center and not the same shape. Doesn’t fit on in any way. It is identical to my old one in terms of how it looks on the outside, but the inside is completely wrong. The container said prior to 2004, which matches when the cartridge I had to get was made… so I don’t get it. I’m over Delta and their similar but different parts.

It fit well and we don't need to use pliers to turn our faucet off and on now! Delta's online description of the product was right on the money.
