I've seen a number of reviews that were similar to my experience with this product. It just didn't fit - I was able to make it work by filing down different areas until it fit. After I had gotten it installed and operational I wondered if it was just the wrong part... I searched and found a similar product on Amazon which is Delta part RP17730. The image I uploaded shows the 2 diverter assemblies side by side. In the photo I aligned these at the point where the assemblies will stop when inserted into the pipe. You can see that part RP19653 will go further into the pipe than RP17730. I believe I actually needed RP17730 which explains why I had to file down the part in many places to make it fit. If you browse to the Delta Faucet site and look up these part numbers it shows that RP19653 is the assembly for the Roman Tub" and RP17730 is just described as Diverter Assembly. I gave this part a 5 star review because it was my error ordering the wrong part.

So far she’s holding up quite nicely. Unlike my other one I got from Ace Hardware. I feel more confident with this one. Water runs strong. Knobs turn well. Tub fills up. No leaks!!! LOVELY!

Unit comes packaged nicely, and fit the shower valves perfectly. No issue with this unit. Original ones wore out on the pads and allowed water to either leak to the shower or to the tub depending on which you were using. No more bypassing now.

Bad quality product. The shape is correct however its diameter is too big and does not fit the diverter valve. if you try to force it it will get stuck and may even break.

This part is not the original part. Once in hand you can compare to the original to the amazon copy and see that the mold is much thicker. It will NOT turn once installed. Simply inserting the part is difficult and fits extremly tight.I HAD TO USE A FILE AND FILE THE MOLDING AT VARIOUS POINTS TO MAKE THE PART FIT.so be aware that if this is your only option you will need a file on hand to file down the thicker molding and some needle nose pliers to pull out the part as it gets stuck and you work out what sections you need to file down.Home Depot online also has this part but they did not have next day delivery. Im not sure if maybe their part would have been molded better. If they do have rhe correct molding then you will not have the need to file down anything.YouTube might have some helpful videos but i could not find a specific video for this particular part but there are some videos that are helpful. The picture i added is the original part the broke. You can see how much thinner the plastic is compared to the amazon part.My part has been installed for a few days and is working due to my filing down of the plastic.
