The idea is a great one but the person who made this probably didn't consider the noise the straps would cause when driving down the rd. This product is functional but be sure to bring some ear plugs.

I'm actually using these to transport an extension ladder. But I expect they will work just as well on a canoe. They were really easy to use. The instructions were clear and easy to follow.As I approached a traveling speed of 15mph, the straps started to vibrate and produce a very loud sound. I can't tell if the sound can be heard outside the vehicle. I didn't get any dirty looks as I passed by groups of people. It might just be inside the vehicle. But it is very loud.Other pads like this have instructed me to secure the canoe in the front and back. That would probably eliminate the vibration.

Needed to get yakima skyline towers to work for putting wenonah canoe on top outback. This works great and don't believe they will dislodge or blow away!

I bought these so my canoe would not rest directly on the aerodynamic cross bars on my roof rack. Those bars are not removable so the block needs to be placed on the bar. The material is not flexible enough to allow one to do this without damage to the block. I ended up cutting a larger width slot in the block to make it easier to place them on the bar.
