Flex XC3401 Mini 4 3/8" Backing Plate
The Flex XC3401 Mini 4 3/8" Backing Plate is the factory replacement backing plate. This backing plate is designed specifically for this polisher, and creates the forced rotation that sets the FLEX apart from other dual action polishers.
The secret to the Flex XC 3401 Polisher's outstanding performance is in the backing plate. The unique design forces a true dual action motion, rather than jiggling. The backing plate's fit and design reduce vibration and give the operator a smoother, more comfortable motion.
The Flex XC3401 Mini 4 3/8" Backing Plate is made of durable molded plastic with a urethane pad to dampen vibration and heat. Hook and loop fasteners cover the bottom of the plate from edge to edge. The size of the backing plate is 4 3/8 inches in diameter. We recommend our 6" single side foam buffing & polishing pads.

3401, the "Beast", is a legendary workhorse that can push backing plates to there limit if you do not lean to use light hands. Let the Beast eat, no need to force feed creating undo backing plate and foam pad heat. These Flex backing plates are very well made but remember they are considered consumables, pricy consumables. A little TLC, heat management, proper storage and maintenance they can last many years.

I use this on a Hercules forced rotation dual action polisher Because Hercules does not sell a 4 1/2 inch backing plate. It works perfectly. I couldn’t ask for more. Great product.

After doing some research I was able to confirm this backing plate for the Flex 3401 Forced Rotation DA also fits my Harbor Freight Hercules 59561 Forced Rotation DA. It works Flawlessly and allow me to use my preferred 5" pads on the Hercules. Love that it keeps me standardized since I set up multiple machines (rotary, forced rotation, & DAs) with 5" and 6" backing plates which saves a ton of time when doing paint corrections since my machines are grab-and-go ready.
