I was looking for a simple heat gun to use for simple heat shrink use. I already own a collection of 20V XR DeWalt batteries so this heat gun was a no brainer addition. Compared to my corded heat gun, this tool does not deliver the high heat (it is battery operated after all) output but it works just fine for its intended purpose. This tool is very effective for heat shrink purposes. I have also tried it with solder wire joint splice and there is sufficient heat to melt the solder and heat shrink the sleeve around it.This tool also makes it very easy to use a heat gun anywhere outside, or any remote location where access to AC power is problematic. You do need to keep in mind that since this is battery powered, your run time will be limited.

Echoing the other comments here:1) This tool drains batteries like crazy. I used a stopwatch to time it - when set to High and locked to run continuously, it drained a brand-new, fully-charged 2Ah battery in 5 minutes and 30 seconds. (The runtime might be better if used in incremental bursts - it's my hunch that the heat generated inside the battery by such a high current drain might have reduced its runtime.)2) Compared with standard corded 110V heat guns, this one isn't nearly as hot on the high setting. This tool is adequate for my purposes (mainly heat-shrinking spliced wires, which takes 30 seconds of small bursts), and the convenience of using the same DeWalt batteries as for a range of other tools is a major convenience.

Heats up fast and gets hot but don’t hold to close unless you want it melted I personally used to defrost my drivers mirror other day it was so cold the mirror heat wasn’t even able to melt the ice on my mirror well I used to melt the ice used towel to clean it I could see again has a million different uses highly recommend over a flame torch

👍🏻 Recommended: Despite less airflow than cheaper plug-in guns, this one provides plenty of heat & stands upright to cool off after using.Cheaper plug-in heat guns have much higher airflow & higher temperatures. That being said, sometimes the cheap guns are too hot and blow too much air. This dewalt 20v gun provides plenty of heat for small projects. Less airflow with plenty of heat means you don’t have to worry about burning everything else nearby. You also don’t have to worry about a cooling stand or heat resistant surface to set it down on after using it like you do with plug-in guns. They take forever to cool off & risk burning whatever surface they touch when laying down.

This heat gun is very poor for being a Daywalt product. It does not have enough fan power if that makes sense. It gets hot but doesn’t blow enough. I use this product to heat shrink after soldering on boats. It makes it very simple so I don’t have to drag extension cords around the dock and risk shock.I would give it less than three stars if I didn’t have a purpose for it. But it is handy at times. Overall, I think it is overpriced for what it is. However, it is not that expensive if you can compare it to dealt ecosystem.

This Dewalt DCE530B 20V heat gun has been coming in handy for things like making box offsets in PVC conduit. Its not exactly high output at 990 degrees F and 6.7 CFM on high speed, but for smaller 1/2 thru 1-1/4 inch conduit I can manage to make a standard box offset in about 5-minutes, as long as I cover the end of the pipe to keep the heat in. It also works well for heat shrink terminals and heat shrink UF splice kits when you’re working in a trench. The bare tool comes with two nozzle attachments, one heat shrink reflector and one spreader. It has two heat ranges but I mainly use high setting. You really need to use the 5Ah or larger battery with this heat gun or you’ll be changing them out frequently. Overall, it’s been working well for smaller jobs so I’m happy with it. This tool doesn't come with a belt hook but, has slots for a DeWalt N268241 belt hook and was easy enough to install. I just needed to drill a hole for the screw and used a spare nut from one of my other Dewalt 20V tools. I also used a Dremel with a 1/8" round burr bit to remove a tiny amount of plastic from inside the battery compartment to recess the nut.

The DEWALT 20V Heat Gun is a game-changer for anyone who values portability and efficiency. Being cordless makes it incredibly convenient for working in tight or outdoor spaces where outlets aren't easily accessible. It's perfect for homeowner projects, whether you're stripping paint, shrinking wrap, or loosening adhesives. While it's excellent for light to medium-duty tasks, it might not be ideal for heavy-duty projects where a plug-in heat gun would provide slightly more power and longer continuous operation. However, for general household tasks, the portability and ease of use more than make up for that. Highly recommend for DIY enthusiasts who need a flexible, reliable tool.

Works great, used for heat shrink core ID'S within PLC.Brought 18v batteries separately and still produces required heat.

The blower is so slow and heat come soooo late. I am really dissapointed in Dewalt, what were they thinking when designing this?!?? For this application, i will still stick back to wired heat gun instead. This one will head head straight to the "Museum"
