I've been wanting a shore spade for a while and decided to pick up the DeWitt. The cost is a bit high on their tools, but I could not find a cheaper alternative. It's good for working in garden beds at close range. It allow me to dig holes for plants as well as take care of some edge cleanup with the same tool.

This a little jewel of a spade. When you open the box it looks smaller than you may have expected...but oh, so well made. Great ergonomics and sharp shovel blade.I've used it for clearing sod in tight places and digging snd planting perennials and its perfect. And Dutch quality -- great tool for now, an heirloom they will be fighting over.

Love everything about this except the bolt that holds it together. It protrudes on the front of the handle just waiting to cause an injury. Just assume that you'll have to re-engineer this before it's safely useable.

The photo used on amazon is incorrect. The carriage bolt that secures the handle is reversed and can't be changed. Customer service was very pleasant and explained that to secure the handle the bolt is put in opposite of picture. They suggested I can return or cover nut with plastic cap.

GREAT Hand Trowel... DeWit! My back is shot... so I have to sit. This hand trowel allows me to play in the dirt. I am serious gardener who likes serious tools. I ordered my 1st tool about 1 year ago - wow! Sturdy wood and awesome metal! When I looked at it I was afraid it would weigh a ton. IT DOESN'T. I now have 3 tools of DeWit.Love them and highly recommend them if you are tried of going out and buying a new tool that ends up being a throwaway fast. These tools are worth the investment. Oh! It also arrived a bit earlier which is always nice!!

The handle was wobbly when I first got it, but I still ended up using it because I was really excited for this tool. Well, handle broke after one season. Now I don’t know where to get a handle like that. Upset about this because this was a splurge for me.

I love this shovel. It is the absolute perfect size especially for raised beds. I know I will be getting the longer handle one as well. The quality of DeWit tools are hands down the best.
